Tornado for x-plane 11 (a proper beta)

We are hopefully close to a functioning version for x-plane 11, with some limitations.
Before we are ready we need to fix the afterburner performances (currenlty we cannot get past mach 1.3).

This version for x-plane 11 is limited because the plugin still cannot interact with the weapons (so no guided bombs) and there seem to be a limit to the total number of weapons that we can load without a crash. So we will provide only a basic configuration with missiles, external tanks and some convetional bombs.

All other functions work as in XP10 with the notable exception of the FMS. We had to remove it entirely. We either find a way to make the default one work or we will need to make a custom one (so no flight plans in this version).

Our target is to have the full version for x-plane 11 ready for when Laminar will add support for custom weapons.

For the time being you can use the beta to help us find other bugs.

As soon as we are ready we will add the version for XP11 to your download section. So if you have the current version for XP10 (or you buy a new one) you will also be able to download the XP11 version from the new link - XP11-only users might want to wait for the full version.

I just purchased the Toronado. I'm wondering how to get/run the beta you are referring to.

If all I have to do is run the current version (1.1) that I downloaded then I should mention that when I try to load it as the first aircraft (New Flight) with full fuel at CYTZ with Toronto scenery on a Mac Pro I get a crash to desktop.

As long as I load it after I start X-Plane it seems to load ok.

I wish I had a joystick because if I did, I'd be trying out Bell 412!

In the meantime, this is already a VERY sweet ride! I will now read thru the manual so I can figure out how to use the radar or moving map etc. It is too hard to line up for a landing visually because of just how fast this thing is :)

Cheers,

Bruce.

Hi

The current version does crash as you say. The beta mentioned here will be available for download very soon (maybe a couple days if we don't run into any major issues).

The beta does not crash and there is (limited) support for weapons (missiles and conventional bombs) + external tanks.

w00t !

Thank you guys! First pics (edit: from myself) in the "What did you flight today ?" thread.

I start to discover the aircraft, like your 412, it's a piece of art.

A quick report: I remarked I can't stop X-Plane properly when I use the Tornado (even if its not the last aircraft I use). I had this behaviour with the v10 version with the temporary patch. There nothing special in the Log.txt not the debug.txt in the Tornado plugin. How may I help you on this ?

Well, I use the bird and when I want to stop X-Plane (by clicking on the upper right X of the app) , the app spins forever.

I click again on the window handle to close it and Windows asks me if I want force the shutdown of the app.

Like if some threads or something aren't finished yet.

I'll dump every other plugin to check...

Please try removing (temporarily) the XSE folder from the plugin's folder of the Tornado (the only place where we have threads is the custom sound plugin)

well, you did mention the word "thread" and that is the only place where we have threads... so it was easy!

now with why.... I need to see. The sound plugin is out first attempt at using Open AL so it is very likely that I missed some setup code ore something. TBH, I am surprised that this is the first bug report specific to that plugin. I was expecting more issues. I will do some research and I will contact you privately. Thanks

Hey Alberto, amazing work ! - couple of observations

Boring Mac problem maybe - you mentioned no FMS/Targeting but I got no efis map on the MFD/ displays in rear cockpit is that expected? The patched V.01 Tornado displays are ok in rear seat. Also when forward view with HUD is selected -it is flickering .Fuel tanks aren't fully rendered when disconnected from rails flying in formation with another Tornado ( not buddy )And am I missing the short cut for toggle smart view?..Thanks for the good work .T')

no efis map..

Success it works :) OK Probably low priority for you but the HUDs brightness cannot be adjusted and in VR the HUD doesn't stay still and moves with head movement causing a bit of nausea :( any ideas mate ?

I need a screenshot please. There are two things here that I am aware of:

1) full screen HUD is floating sometimes and it should not (my fault, I forgot to force two variables to zero)

2) 3D HUD: it needs to move. In fact the HUD stays still regardless your point of view (as the real HUDs do) | if this is confusing in VR i can probably add an option to lock it.

If your case is different I need some more details (a screenshot will be perfect)
