screetch82
Dear all in the hardware section you can find the original pinned post for the FPS test. I updated the site so you can easly input your results and get a reporting with the scores and can compare to different hardware configuration. Just go there or follow the instruction here and I am happy to see as many of you as possible doing the tests and so we get a good feel for XP11 and different hardware. (0) Conditions to run the FPS test: - Remove/rename your Output/preferences folder to reset to the default rendering settings (call it old_preferences) - remote any running plugin - start xplane and set the resolution you want to test, close xplane - Unplug any Joysticks/HID Devices (1) For X-Plane 11 copy the file "test_flight_c4" from Xplane10/output/replay to Xplane 11/output/replay and do the test. (if you dont have xp10 it is attached) (2) start the command line and browse to the XP11 folder and start the test one by one: x-plane --fps_test=1 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr x-plane --fps_test=2 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr x-plane --fps_test=3 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr x-plane --fps_test=4 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr x-plane --fps_test=5 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr x-plane --fps_test=54 --load_smo=Output/replays/test_flight_c4.fdr A description of the FPS tests can be found here: http://www.x-plane.com/kb/frame-rate-test/ 1 = low, 2 = medium, 3 = very high stress test 4 = heavy on CPU light on GPU, 5 = heavy on GPU light on CPU (3) After each test go to xplane/log.txt and you will see the results towards the bottom: Loaded: E:\X-Plane 11/Aircraft/Laminar Research/Cessna 172SP/plugins/xlua/64/win.xpl (com.x-plane.xlua.1.0.0b1). FRAMERATE TEST: time=101.3, frames=3978, fps=39.29 GPU LOAD: time=101.3, wait=0.1, load=0.1% Clean exit from threads. (4) Enter your FPS Data here: Link to GPU Input form (on Google SpreadSheets) (5)Results are here (Updates every few minutes): Link to Website with the data analysis January 2017: First Release April 2017: Added new Field to separate CPU and Clock speed Separated XP11beta results from XP11 Release results in Input Form and Benchmark Analysis Sheet Added individual CPU/GPU Comparison Charts for XP10, XP11Beta and XP11 for 1080p resolution added reminder in instructions on pre conditions to run the test test_flight_c4.zip Edited January 4, 2018 by screetch82 6

Ricardo2696
When i try to launch the replay using the cmd file, the sim starts (showing the loading screen) but after 20 seconds it closes. Anyone know of a solution for this??? Edited January 31, 2017 by Ricardo2696

schultzy
Ok, I submitted some older XP10 tests as well as two new XP11 ones @ 1080p and UHD. Note that I had threaded optimizations turned on. If you can make the description column show up, I can rerun with threaded optimizations turned off to show folks the difference.

larsras
Nice way of doing compare tests, which I have done the last few days testing OC. Today when I tried again, it is raining heavily and I get much different results. I'm using Xenviro 1.06. Launched XP11 PB9 and went to XP weather and set it so manually/VFR, and also disabled xenviro, but same results so I guess this just enabled again at next XP launch. Something to consider when testing/submitting results I guess!

I thought @screetch82 or someone else mentioned before that all these tests should be done an a *fresh* demo install (there are probably ways of copying an installation and clearing the settings if you don't want to re-download). That's key to doing an apples-to-apples test, otherwise plugins can be doing who-knows-what to your framerates. It's perfectly useful to test framerates with various plugins/scenery/weather installed, but don't expect to be able to make a good comparison to what other folks are getting. @screetch82, maybe you can add that tip to the top of your post? I tested again and got high score on the FPS54 test. will do some testing tomorrow with the full range. For now I am enjoying the graphics glory. Kinda wish I had a better CPU already though I noticed that a lot of the cockpits had just low resolution textures. this didnt stand out like that before. Cool--you just need to change the rules to sort on FPS54 so you win. Looking forward to seeing your 4K results. Yeah, 4K/UHD is really nice on nice cockpits, like stuff from Carenado. Have you tried it on one of their G1000 planes? Very nice on XP11's improved C172 too. And at 4K you can read the smaller text. But now you notice the planes that have underlying low-res textures. The double-edged sword to 4K. Edited February 10, 2017 by schultzy
screetch82
haha if i change the rules i loose justification to get a better system. In theory anbody with a 6600k or 7700k and high clock will have higher FPS than me. I am curious to get some Ryzen benchmarks
schultzy
Yeah, would love to see AMD be a legitimate competitor to Intel for XP. Not holding my breath though. They "compare" their 8-core to Intel's 4-core, which says to me that their single-thread is still lousy. I think there may be more hope for their graphics cards than their CPUs at this point, at least in the medium high performance category. Like the RX480 seems like an ok competitor to the 1060, but it's not necessarily a better value right now.

Cebif
I cannot fill in FPS1 field of the form. I get this message: Please use "." (Dot). What does this mean? Where do I use "."? I am copiing and pasting my results. All the other FPS fields allow me except FPS1 field. It stops me from submitting the whole form. I was trying to update my results because I got a new gtaphics card. Edited February 23, 2017 by Cebif
screetch82
That means as a decimal, dont use a comma use a dot. So no '100,43' but instead put in '100.43'

I even thought I might not be seeing it as a "," if it really was, so deleted it and made sure I pressed the "." key on my keyboard. Still did not help.
