Steve.Wilson
Agreed. Looking good. "Rivaling" is a bit of a stretch..especially when you see nearer terrain with the usual painted on textures. OT uses grass, rocks, etc., and doesn't rely on image mapping the way that XP does. That's an advantage of a rendering engine that's built on fractals and procedural terrain. If you were gaining altitude the difference between OT and XP becomes staggering quickly. Two completely, utterly different, and unfortunately irreconcilable approaches to environment modeling. Of course, X-Plane is fully modeled and functional, whereas the OT guys are not quite there yet. And when "yet" will be is anyone's guess.
Murmur
I was not referring specifically to the detail and resolution of textures up close, but rather to the general appearence of environment, lighting, atmosphere, etc.
Steve.Wilson
Ah. In that, you have succeeded. X-Plane is getting better looking all the time - here's hoping the trend continues!
manetfil
Nice looking environment. How did you achieve that? Can you share your shader adjustments along with the datarefs changed?
Flugsimulatorpilot
Your screenshots look awesome, Murmur. I have never seen such realistic clouds in X-Plane. I'm very interested in your settings. Which cloud textures do you use? And which datarefs have you modified? Thanks in advance.
