Piaggio P.180 Avanti Alterna is a major upgrade to Avanti Ferrari Team included with X-Plane. With over 200 changes and tweaks made, Avanti Alterna presents a completely new level of details and realism. Changes include:
- Refined flight performance allowing for realistic cruise speed and range
- Fine-tuned engine model
- Updated and redesigned cockpit instruments
- Completely new annunciators panel
- Accurate electrical systems model
- New beautiful livery
- Detailed automated checklist written after real pilot's manual
- Goodway compatibility metadata
As of v.1.2, following updates introduced:

As of v.1.21, following updates introduced:

As of v.1.25, following updates introduced:
- Brand-new cockpit lighting logic
- Refined aerodynamics model
Included with the plane you will find comprehensive 96-page flight manual, which thoroughly describes all the flight procedures. Emergency procedures, checklist walkthrough, instruments explanation and X-Plane setup recommendations are all present there. Appendix to the flight manual contains instructions for joystick scripting to realistically emulate real controls behavior.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PPC MAC USERS:
Current version of the plane (1.21) is not compatible with PowerPC Macs. Plugin included is only available for Intel-based Macs. If you wish to use the plane, please delete or rename 'plugins' folder. You will lose some advanced functionality, but base flight model will remain completely usable.

UPDATE 26122009: PDF manual included reported to be incompatible with Mac OS X Preview utility because of PDF generation software fault. Acrobat opens it OK on any platform. Fixed after regenerating the file with newer Acrobat version. Amazing, but this also shaved off 8 Mbs. Download updated pack to get updated manual.

UPDATE 27122009: This update adresses notorious sunshield problem. Many people reported vision obstruction with sunshield. This update adds alternative cockpit object with sunshield completely removed from captain's side. Check 'Extras' folder for the file and instructions.

UPDATE 08042010: Version 1.2b
Minor changes to ACF file. Co-pilot HSI is now synchronized with pilot's side to make OBS and HDG setting easier. Many people seem to use this (independent in reality) instrument for autopilot setup. Those who have already installed v.1.2, may use a little patch instead of downloading the full updated 50 MB pack. Patch is located here:

UPDATE 04052010: Version 1.2c
Corrected UFMC metadata. 12 'ribbons' liveries added - thanks to the talents of Christopher Bertagne. Liveries directories structure optimized - junk files erased. This allowed to keep the airplane pack with 24 liveries included at reasonable 55 Mbs. Minor corrections to ACF file for better generic instruments limits behavior.Those who have already installed version 1.2 may use a little upgrade patch located here:

UPDATE 11052010: Version 1.21
Started as an attempt to add accurate flaps model, this update caused a significant flight model rework. Changed CG location and custom control surfaces model cause smoother behavior of aircraft when hands-on flying and slightly improved cruise performance. Few minor bugs fixed and logic scripts optimized slightly. Sorry, no update patch available, please download full aircraft pack.

UPDATE 03062010: Version 1.25
Complete lighting system rework which in turn required redrawing most of the standard textures. At the same time more accurate aerodynamics and flying surfaces placements allowed for better cruise performance.
