IMPORTANT:

When I added AviTab, I forgot to remove the Cockpit_3D folder, rename or remove it as it is not in use, and if the folders is there, compass will not work!

Its removed since 1.0.2, you may have it if you simply overwrite existing files when updating.

Updates:

1.12

  • Small fixes (the helo wont blown in mid-air)
  • Wearable sunglasses added
  • Librain updated to VR compatible version

1.11

  • FD tweaks
  • Optional autopilot

1.10.1 - Librain initialization hotfix - using find_path function from Zibo's script to set the Mi-2's folder

1.10 - Let It Rain!

  • Librain implementation
    • Big thanks to Totoritko for this great plugin, thanks to @nhadrian and @ksgy for the tips and a lot of thanks to @Zlin142 for the wiper animation!
    • At the moment librain only supports circular wiping, Totoritko already working on linear wiping so after he will be ready with it,
I will change the wiping parameter to it

1.0.9 - X-Plane 11.30 particles

  • Engine haze effects now using the particles coming with X-Plane 11.30
  • Sprinklers particles was added by NHAdrian, thanks!
  • Real manuals added into "Manuals" folder, manuals can be viewed with AviTab

1.0.8.1 - The VR update

  • Thanks to Joe from SimVRlabs, files are included for VR pilots. If you fly in VR just unzip the file in "VR files from SimVRLabs" into
the the main directory of the Mi-2 (overwrite existing files). You can use it in non VR also, the 3 way switches were modified to VR, not comfortable in non VR.
SimVRlabs changelog (included in the zip file):
Added mesh for barometer/altimeter knob (previously not useable in VR)
Added mesh for clickspot at the tip of the barometer/altimeter knob, to reset to 29.92 in hg (previously not useable in VR)
Added meshes for com1 knobs, Mhz and khz (previously not useable in VR)
Added mesh toward base of collective handle for throttle (now you can roll throttle on and off with a twist of the wrist, as you really would...no more F1/F2 :) )
Added mesh for collective, tuned the dataref range for 0.1 to 12.5 (this is stable and does well.)
Flipped normals and resized meshes for yoke stick and collective, to give nice green outline around texture, but not cover the texture.
Changed 3 way switches from drag_axis to axis_switch_up_down for best VR useability
Added Teleport Hotpots to all seats
Tuned all knobs and 3 way switches for speed in the VRconfig
  •  New ultra realistic physical model - for the air refreshener :)

1.0.8

  • Script crash fix, it will not crash if AviTab is not installed
  • Irrigation system (thanks for the 3D modell to @Zlin142)
  • Sprayer system included with written permission from Dan Klaue and Alabeo (thank you guys!)
  • You can personalize the cockpit with your own photos, put your photo into the included photo frame and use it in the cockpit
PSD is in Mi-2\objects\Pictureframe_s.psd, put your photo on it, export it as a png in Objects folder (Mi-2\objects\Pictureframe_s.png)
  • Wunderbaum air freshener for your pleasure - click on the center of the fan on the dasboard to equip it (from the An-2 by @ksgy, thanks!)
  • Optimizations
  • Minor tweaks in script files
  • 2 slungload objects added, a Bambi Bucket (by jokohama) and a caged Cherno Deer (the deer came from @monoblau's laboratory, thanks! :))
  • This version was built with Plane Maker for X-Plane 11.26, it was planned to update it to Plane Maker version 11.30, but has lot of issues, hopefully in next release

1.0.7

  • Heat haze reposition at engine 1
  • Some ACF tweaks (now she flies a bit easier, not that sensitive)
  • Transmission losses changed
  • Transponder
  • Configuration window (it is accessible via the CNF button on the transponder)

1.0.6:

  • No more seperate ACF files, both ACF is the same, AviTab can be turned on/off above the RW3 light indicator
  • Rain effect by Virtual Arantis Airways ported from the C172 to the Mi-2, no animations just rain droplets on glasses (it can be turned on/off, click on the centre of the ventilator on your dash)
  • Visible GPU (when battery switch is on external power and on ground)
  • Some ACF modifications - limits, sling load max weight, etc.
  • New updated manual for the X-Plane 11 version (thanks to Roland!)
  • Pilot on board (used x-plane.fr's pilot collection)
  • Sling load (there is a loadable object in the slungloads folder, you can use existing load from Bell 407 or 412 for example)
  • Rotor blur transparency finally fixed, a script switches an external and an internal rotor, no more blue borders around rotor blades

1.0.5:

  • Thanks to NHAdrian and Joe Kipfer (SimVRLabs) VR manipulators and config, stick, throttle, collective now stick to the VR controller
  • External tanks now only shown if you tank more than 600kgs of fuel, if in-air fuel goes below 600 tanks won't fall off, you have to land to remove the tanks
  • Pilot's Operation Handbook and Maintenance Handbook added (in manuals folder as pdf files), you can read them in AviTab at Plane Manual

1.0.4:

  • xPad added to VR users, you can find it below the centre console (thanks to Fergus Moloney)
  • Ground Service / loadout picture a little bit clarified (thanks to Roland)

1.0.3:

  • small fixes (compass, manipulators, added a missing wav file)
  • heat haze at engines (more eyecandy)

1.0.2:

  • several fixes (mostly textures)
  • AviTab version fixed (right panel has missing texture)
  • static texture based reflections removed, added full dynamic reflections to glass surfaces (cockpit, instruments, etc)
  • NML textures
  • interior panel instruments lighting temporary workaround: turn on the red light switches at the right panel and twist the overhead light knobs, this will light up the instruments with a red lighting.

1.0.1:

  • ACF file converted from XPL9 to (XP10 then to) XPL11
  • Added an AviTab version
  • Small tweaks

1.0.0:
First release

Known issues:

  • DO NOT use physical throttle axis otherwise you will have problems (eg. don't assign an axis to it), it won't work, you can't use throttle axis at the moment. For throttle use F1 and F2
  • Interior lighting doesn't work (driven by an encrypted plugin, will be tricky to fix it without the plugin sources) - See workaround above
  • Some manipulators are real pain to switch
  • Sometimes the little compass on the left side disappears - Fixed
  • AviTab version has some texturing problems in the cockpit - Fixed
  • Aircraft configuration window barely works - was my fault :D

i would love to give this a 5 star review but alas I cannot

As far as the art work is concerned it truly deserves 5 stars. But when it comes to flying it it is near impossible to get this thing started. I've followed the checklist to the letter and I've looked at the youtube cold start but I still can't get it up and running

can't work out what's wrong

That being said, it is near impossible to start from cold. So I just realised I can do a hot start so that is what I do now.

cold starts are virtually impossible. Do a hot start

Great heli to fly, very addictive and sensitive, very good for learning. Thanks for making it work in X-Plane 11 and make this project alive again.

I'm 100% pleasured and satisfied. When I was a child this was the first heli I have seen live and touching it and I fell in love. And now I can try myself at "piloting" it.

Thanks to author and all the people that made this thing flyable in X11.

A massive upgrade so long awaited by those who love this helicopter. The temperature problem is already solved along with new details that leave it to the standard of the current models and there is still more thanks to the great work Ekre. Thanks mate

I think I am in love with it. I have it slated to be the star of a future X-Plane episode on my channel. First I need to learn how to properly operate it, since right now I am running on what I learned for the DCS Mi-8 Hip, and there are obvious differences with this one.

Excellent job converting her. I have missed flying this one since X-Plane 10. She sounds as great as I remember, she looks just as pristine as before (which is saying a lot considering how old they made her look), and best of all... IT WORKS IN VR, with no tweaking. Only the collective and cyclic are not implemented, but that is not a concern for me since I use my HOTAS and not the Oculus touch controllers.

A very nice helicopter, with great systems and impressive rotor animations, as well as immersive sounds. You will be pleased to know I will be writing about it for Threshold's No Money Mondays! I will publish the article tomorrow at www.thresholdx.net :)

One of the best freeware XP Choppers is back in the game 100%, as it was and as it deserves to be.

Thank you very much for this!

Hi I am running xplane 11.31 downloaded this Helicopter ver 10 which I really want to like but as with ver 9 I cannot start the engines.

I am using the Checklist, watched several cold start videos, any one else having this problem, aircraft will load with engines running but spoils

the emmersion for me. Just upgraded to 11.32 and everything is fine now and aircraft seems more stable.

It's nice that you're developing the Mi-2 project but could someone help me how I can choose a cockpit without Avitab because in both helicopters it's there. To how can I join a bambi bucket or spraying please ask for some tutorial.

Sorry my english.

nice work, but it is normal to be so unstable with engines? and how do I use avitab?

as of XPlane 11.55.

Cannot be started cold from the ramp. Probably abandoned by the author. 1 star. A pity.

Best helicopter on x plane! The only thing that is a bit weird and confusing is the overhead left radio panel becuase the trxture is messed up. Another thing is the trottle. When inflight and the collective is applied you cant reduce the trottle for cruise. But otherwise it is a great helicopter. BTW can you please give me someone a tutorial how to put the WUNDER tree on. Thank you!

Discovered this heli only yesterday (shame on me 🙂 ) Fun machine to fly and start up. Looks like a machine from the game "Borderlands". These russian designers were far ahead of their time.

BUT BUT ......I can't lift of straight vertical without pulling the cyclic into the 2 second quadrant. So without doing this it tips over to the left and crashes. Any ideas??

@Ekre

Great helicopter, many thanks for your work!

I'm enjoying every moment I fly with this aircraft. I've donated this project and I hope you'll have some improvements in the future, good luck to you guys!

One question is how to get all indicators translated in Russian language? Or all in English? Now it's 50/50.

Absolutely love it and after a lot of reading of the manual, head scratching and a bit of patience was rewarded by the sound of the engines starting up and great sounds they are too.
