Excellent!  Just had a quick flight around Big Bear City Airport very nice... I'm going to enjoy this little gem, nice easy to fly and good handling.  Not as slippery as the Panthera V3 that I recently purchased.  Thanks heaps guys.

Super fun aircraft — very happy I downloaded.

If you’re taking a look for the first time:  I’ll save you a little confusion?

1) The canopy will be able to close after you’ve started the engine.

2) Using my rudder pedal brakes was a disaster... super jumpy, uneven, and literally refused to stop the aircraft.  However, hitting a button I have assigned to setting the brakes worked just fine.  (Maybe this is an XP-11 beta9 thing?)

3) In cruise, I tried setting up the GPS, and it worked fine.  However, the CDI on the PFD (magenta) had a mind of its own... never pointed in the right direction.  In spite of that, the aircraft tracked my flight plan perfectly.

In spite of the minor points above, I have to admit, I was *really* impressed overall.  Beautifully modeled aircraft, and a LOT of fun to fly.  For free?.... 5-stars.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much but this is great! I realize that this was once a pay ware aircraft and has been generously donated to the X-Plane community. A big thanks to the developers. I will certainly put you at the top of my favorite developers.

This is my favorite piece of XP11 freeware by far. Coming from P3D with the RealAir payware model, this fills the need for a Legacy in XP11 very well and for the mere price of a few MB of disk space, it's just brilliant. The airplane flies well, the exterior and internal models are very nicely done, the aircraft systems are intuitive and effective (and the documentation on these systems is outstanding!). I've done about 10 hours flying in this so far and I will have many, many more.

This should really be 5 stars and the only reason I don't give it the 5th star is some creative criticism. I would highly, highly recommend this model to anyone new or old to XP and I intend to fly it much, much more.

  • The internal lighting model could benefit from some fine tuning. For example at night, the button labels on the glass PFD are dark and difficult to read unless the cockpit interior light is set quite bright. As a simulation of a digital display, they should be as bright as the rest of the PFD behind it. When flying in light cloud with the strobe light on, sometimes the strobe will cause the instrument displays to "flash" as well. Two obvious bugs for sure, but when night flying it can be distracting.
  • The autopilot model chosen is not very flexible and can be a little clunky at times. It lacks any form of refined climb/descent capability (you can pick 500ft p/min or 1200ft p/min, but nothing in-between and toggling between them mid-climb/mid-descent is troublesome). It could benefit from improvements here for sure, this is my biggest gripe, but overall it is quite capable. I have flown fully IFR around the UK and managed the whole flight using the XPlane GNS530 and the basic altitude control functionality and it is perfectly flyable like that. The included documentation does a great job at explaining the functionality available and helps you get the best out of the aircraft without a doubt!
  • I think to be a more flexible airplane model overall it would be great to have an ADF radio. This may be a limitation of the equipment chosen for the model but the amount of times I've flown into an airfield in IMC, not able to use an NDB and having to take an alternative approach makes this a huge want from me. I would love to fly this airplane into more airfields, but flying real weather/real time I am sadly limited.

Regardless of the 3 points above, the various developers of different parts of this airplane should be very very proud with what they have accomplished. It flies well, is a joy to handle and comfortable to use when simulating right down to the right IMC approach to use. I intend to use this for many hours and many of virtual miles.

I really love this Bird and all Aerobask productions

Just one thought, it could be very nice to get, one day, a new modeled PT6 turbine single engine aircraft like this one, with proper flight model and FMOD sound. I will be one of the first to purchase it ! (perhaps, having already the Legacy and the PT6 modeled, wouldn't it be a huge gap to achieve on this model ? Surely appart of the flight model which could be more challenging ...) :
