Paulvanuf Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Today I did some landings on water (for the first time) and I noticed that the plane wouldn't slow down. Is this normal behaviour? Tried to find some info in the manual, maybe I overlooked something. Grz. Paul Quote Grz. Paul

Paul Hello Paul, This was tested, following your input, and all is working as expected; right after touchdown, with the engine on idle rpm, the aircraft slows down spontaneously, as expected, down until about 3-5 knots. Then, it will keep drifting depending on engine setup. To stop the slow drift you may shut-off the engine, or drop an anchor (in X-Plane, brakes works as anchor in water). Let me know if you need further assistance! 😎 Quote VSKYLABS Aerospace Simulations www.vskylabs.com
Paulvanuf Posted April 11, 2021 Author Posted April 11, 2021 Thx. I guess, I expected more drag from the water. Simply have no idea how this in the real world behaves. I will try the brakes though. Quote Grz. Paul
VSKYLABS Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Just now, Paulvanuf said: Thx. I guess, I expected more drag from the water. Simply have no idea how this in the real world behaves. However...when standing still...even idle RPM can push the aircraft slowly on the water. Drag increases with speed, so it is quite easy to taxi on water, but as the speed goes-up, drag goes up as well. Quote VSKYLABS Aerospace Simulations www.vskylabs.com
Paulvanuf Posted April 11, 2021 Author Posted April 11, 2021 Well, I used the toebrakes with no effect Quote Grz. Paul

After impacting the water, you don't have to use any active means of braking. The aircraft will slow down by itself to a slow-drifting speed. Toe brakes will not emulate X-Plane's *Anchor*, only the parking brakes, so you could use them (located on the lower left portion of the cockpit wall on the pilot side, or by pressing 'b' / 'v' which are the default assignments for parking brakes in X-Plane ('b' toggles between 0 to ~75% braking power and 'v' toggles between 0% to 100% braking power).
