Beta 2 well underway!  Thank you for everyone's enthusiasm to volunteer... all parts of the world, all types of systems, hardware -- just what the shakedown needed!

Interesting Linux bugs (fixed) that we'd never have caught if not for the community testers!

After much feedback we also agreed that our outside glass needed less tint (v1) ... we liked how it picked up the color of the XP sun, but was..  "too fierce" as someone one called it!  😆

What do you think of the updated v2??...

WAY better! Don't know if I'll pick this up or not, as I typically fly pistons, but it's definitely a well-modelled jet!

VERY nice job!

The jet gets more polish and shine daily, and many small bugs resolved!

Now on Beta 4 (recruited from community members) now in progress.
All early Linux crashing issues resolved, so the product now runs stable on all platforms.
At this time all critical flight systems, instruments -- all Priority one items are rock solid.

A recent internal poll of all beta testers revealed that 100% would highly recommend the aircraft!

Quick update:  Beta now on v6 -- been running on Win, mac, Linux ... bugs definitely now getting harder to find with each drop to the beta team -- so we are now quite close to our goal of being able to ship a product that is >97% completed, and >95% bug free!
Liveries coming online ... The strategy was to create each to represents a country theme, with their flag on the tail, and follows marking their registration requirements:
Here are a couple of the total of 9 completed.   4=NZ, 6 Spain, 7 SWZ, 8 represents UK.
Enjoy.

FYI NZ registrations always start with ZK-, not ZL-.

Hmmm.. from our reading, the ZK prefix is reserved for certain classes of aircraft (gliders, heli's, historical etc.) of which our business jet is not a part ... I'm referring to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_registration_prefixes

I can see how you can get that from that page. It is misleading.

I have been involved in aviation here in NZ my entire adult life. I have yet to see a single NZ registered aircraft that wasn't ZK-...

Further evidence. Note the reg of every NZ aircraft in the list (there are a lot of visitors from elsewhere, but look at the Air New Zealand ones for example).

Just in case… If your text was meant to match your screenshots, you might want to check your registrations for Spain; that would be EC- where the I- is for Italy…

But looking very nice 👍

oops -- good catch, thanks. Fixed.
And actually we also have ones for Brazil, India and Italy too... see attached.

An major announcement from the AirSim3D team:
FMOD was not in the plan for the XP11 version of the aircraft. But the further along we got with the development of the jet with its full immersion -- like real-world/country inspired liveries, VR readiness, THxP lighting, and 95% overall systems authenticity and sophistication, the clearer it got that we just would be selling the jet short by not having custom sounds (which are being added in the XP12 version anyway from real-world recording made at Boeing field)

So we've made the decision to delay shipping the C-560XL so FMOD sounds are included in the C-560XL in order to consistently meet the high standards we've set for the C-560XL's customer immersion (like everything else far else on the jet).

Ok, Ok , -- we hear the question -- delayed by how much???
FMOD is not trivial ... a month -- or two max???   Know that we are as eager to get this out of the door as you are -- this and finishing up VR readiness are now our #1 priorities!
(Repeating the earlier post --  if you have FMOD building skills, and would like to get involved/partnered, lets talk -- maybe we can then release faster than the current plan!!)

Meanwhile we released our first Release Candidate to our beta team today -- its for spit an polish mostly as we have achieved our goal of having every big/major system and function -- everything that makes flying the jet so immersive and enjoyable, bug free on Win/Mac and Linux systems.

Onward!

This is the Swiss country "snowstorm" Livery back from a days flying.

Always good to see business jets in-sim!

I noticed a couple of things regarding the paints, namely the registrations:

German registrations do not use this format: DE-NNN

As the aircraft has a max. take-off mass greater than 5.7 tonnes, the registrations in Germany should follow the format D-CXXX, where XXX can be any other alphabetical character... here D-CGMI

Perhaps someone else may wish to correct me, but I have never seen numbers used in UK CAA registrations either, just G-NNNN...

Good luck with the release. Looking forward to seeing more previews, also inside...

Thanks for the enthusiasm and feedback, and you are right about the markings... but a clarification -- the image you quote is of an early test version meant to just show the accessories that come with the jet. I should have been clearer about what we were showing in that post, and provide a more accurate livery, (see ones posted Sept 27, Oct 9 above) -- those are accurate.

Actually that livery/design did not make the final cut   :))   And no German registration version either: the jet provides 8 themed liveries from 8 diff countries -- USA, UK, INDIA, BRAZIL, SWITZERLAND, SPAIN, ITALY, NZ and includes a paint kit for PS and GIMP for the livery artists out there. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

NZ not close enough!?   -- it never ends 🤣

Paint kit included.  Will be interesting to see what regional/custom designs the community creates once released. (only FMOD pending now, deep into that)

😆
Careful, that's like saying Britain and France are close, so they're pretty much the same place!

Historically, that is actually true. England did use to own a large amount of France.

If the avionics aren't screaming at you to pull up or put the gear down, you are flying too high.

Progress update:
The only work remaining -- building FMOD, continues in earnest. (see announcement above Oct 9)  We'll now be able to charge the $1+million per jet like the real ones! 😎

Joking aside... completed are 3D engines sounds, APU, GPU (taken from real C-560XL samples recorded at Boeing field) and everything on the dash clicks and clucks as it should + gear, wind, TD Speed/rumbles, flaps done.  In progress: AP and other verbal/mech Warnings, and dings, and callouts --  all the other little sounds that enhance the end to end immersion and experience.

Also the jet continues to fly and get sanity-checked in the each new XP12 beta -- no surprises, looks fantastic, and flies/operates as expected, but some flight model and systems updates will be needed to make it fully compatible as we expected. And it will use some of the new XP12 features, like as 1 example, yes, rain effects already work! The team is feeling pretty good about that sim-ver future release too (only after XP12 is out of beta)

Night cockpit  -- over 300 individually aimed and tuned bulbs -- notice the glow of the lettering on the bezels, and overall glow.
Underbelly image shows the detailed 3d grunge textures found all over the aircraft both outside and inside.

Stay tuned for more. (more pics, details, release plans??  -- visit our site airsim3d.com
