The glare from the ice is blinding & gives you no depth perception & you can end up hitting a little to hard, like me.

Got to really flare her out & try making for a smoother landing.

Learn something new every day. I'll try sunglasses next time.

I was not aware of any bush flying clubs but recently @Joao Paz acessed a file I submitted a year or so ago on frozen lakes. If you are not intimidated in editing dsf files by using XPTools and a text editor like "VS Code", a simple one line edit will freeze all the lakes and rivers in a dsf tile in XP. I posted a discription of this process in 2024 but had only one person who responded to it at the time. I included a brief description of the use of "Jonesoft generic mod enabler" to facilitate the switch from standard tiles to frozen ones or vice versa before starting to fly the sim. I also have made a couple of hundred or so seaports and small airports in Ontario and Quebec for my own use. This scenery pack is yet to be released — but it already promises loads of fun!

This is the kind of work that back in the early 2000s flightsim world (I remember that era all too well!) would have been everyone's delight. Can't wait for this... now, I'd better start brushing up on my float flying skills.

I am working at trying my hand (and my patience) at creating some scenery. So far this has 4 Air strips 2 fictional and two that I found on ortho photo but can't find any ID for. These are in the Merrill Pass area which is due west of anchorage. I hope to put this out for you all soon I just have some tweaks i want to make and maybe add a few mor fictional air strips to make them some fun short flight in a beautiful area. Here are some screen shots of what i have so far... But unfortunately, "you don't know what you don't know". So, if you all have some input on textures, objects or just plain advice please send it my way so i can make this available for you all, if you want it? I would like to make this a good as I can.

@LPNils has a wealth of amazing scenery addons that will keep us, bush pilots, busy for months. I'm listing below just the ones indicated for Alaska/British Columbia and X-Plane 12 - but it is an incomplete and unfair choice. Be sure to check also his many other packs as well - and going through that list ( https://forums.x-plane.org/profile/238173-lpnils/content/?type=downloads_file ) makes me consider buying X-Plane 11 now...!
