What a complex cockpit! Mindblowing.

Pretty low gross weight at 20,244 with 5,000 lbs of internal fuel.

Full flaps with speed brakes out to get engine RPM up and use those blown flaps to full advantage.

Interestingly, the pitch and airspeeds are comparable to the DWS F-16C low speed pass at a gross weight of 24,300 and 5,000 lbs of fuel.

On the other hand, in the F-14, with 5,000 lbs of fuel, gross weight is about 47,400!! A low speed pass with AoA "on speed" gets you down to about 120 kts!

It seems like an AoA of 11-12 degrees is the sweet spot.

What does it all mean? IDK, I just like to experiment. 🤔

As part of publicity efforts for the venerable Beverley and historical repaints, I have put a Jason Statham 3D model in the cockpit. Low poly and sourced from dodgy online source, but it IS Jason Statham (like with the Albatross / the Expendables).

Here comes a clip for the AJS Viggen 37 with mostly landing/starting tests on pure icy conditions and some sad goodbye for a J29 in the end of the clip.

Some landings got closer to 500meters, largest weight was roughly 15tons, fuel & weapons.

The tests was done on warbase ESUF around 1980, it exists in X-plane.

Underneath also screenshot from night time test flight. The MFD's are quite widely developed with numerous functions available, FLIR on screen and so on.

The NAAFI truck is useful, red squares on the Runway Caravan too. Date is June 1945,,war ended with Germany in April, so reckon the target marking film was shot earlier.

Was already looking at livery options but looks like the Royal Navy hellcat is coming with the release. Feel free to suggest research angles for this plane. Spending time on the Bearcat was fun and this looks like a great model.

I did 2 years on Jaguar in Project Office and Commercial role. Loved it.

The structure is nearly there, just portholes and a few details to add. Model is based on study of several episodes which I enjoyed revisiting, plus a blueprint I found. I'll probably add its rocket sled and launch rails too.

I'll attempt to texture it next, using Blender's procedural nodes and DecalMaster for the badges and insignia. If, when complete, some clever person with PlaneMaker skills can make her fly I'm open to offers ...

I guess I wait for another salary payment before I purchase (or so), but I just thought I'd raise awareness of the new release and kind of bring up, sooner rather than later, how this plane compares with the Virtavia C-17..

I will have something to say about it down the track but for now I just request anybodies' screenshots and impressions from this Overlord of an aircraft...

1. * The auto pilot is a little different. If it's not doing what you want it to do it's best to go to OFF and start over.

2. * The anti-skid/spoiler switch does not give spoiler braking on the ground nor does it switch anti-skid.

3. * The bleed source buttons are animated but don't actually function.

4. ** There are 4 error messages in the Log.txt but they don't seem to affect the model.

5. * If you install chocks using the Ground Services menu, the nose wheel is chocked but only one wheel.

6. * If you load the model without external fuel tanks, the fuel quantity still shows the external fuel load.

7. * The Course Select (CSEL) in the VSD & HSD do not match.

8. * The radar altimeter "bug" is very hard to see. It is drawn incorrectly.

9. ** If you select "DD" from MENU 1 on an MFD then the "MENU 1" label disappears and you need to click on the bottom center button to recover.

10 * The "Formation Flying" special start doesn't work well as the AI F-14 flys erratically and two HUDs are drawn.

11. * The external lights are not available for a cold & dark start unless you toggle the "master lighting sw" using a key bind.

12. Since the F-14 has only a Tacan radio you may find it handy to assign a key or button to "GNS NAV 1 toggle popup". You can use the G430 to input a flight plan.

13. ** If you bring up the X-Plane default map and click on a VORTAC you will see that a channel has been added next to the frequency but that bug fix is "in progress" so it may or may not be accurate at this time.

14. If you are following the POH "Checklists" beginning on page 75 note that you cannot set the flaps with the wings swept back for taxi.

15. If you use the commands for flaps up/down a notch there are 7 steps. (I think @Igor4U mentioned this a while ago)

Anyway, hope this is useful. The F-14 is fun to fly I think. It's not too complicated and has a very nice HUD.

This was a typical route flown by Warton's test pilots,,something I look forward to emulating.
