Hello all, what a great idea!

Some of the most enjoyable scenery creations have had the pleasure of making are the WWII and WWI sceneries, even getting to the point where I was in fairly regular contact with the RAF Museum requesting airfield plans ….they were always very helpful BTW. I can’t really put into words what it feels like building these sceneries from the ground up then seeing them come alive with AI aircraft. I often would try to put my self in the shoes of the those who went before and tried to imagine what it must have felt like to climb aboard one of these amazing machines knowing it could be your last.

There is something quite special about all of this so really happy to see this club. Might just have to go back and revisit some of this again now XP12 is the future..All the best..

I've been a fan of military aviation (and naval ships) for a while plus my father was a helicopter refueler in the US Navy. I've flown many military aircraft in X Plane (like the T34-C, T28-C, F-14, F7F, etc) and I just thought to join this club. Nothing more nothing less. I am a Windows user (Win11) and i currently use X Plane 12. Having ridden through 175 carrier landings yelling "power!" to my pilot, I'm now working on trying to master the skill myself. My name is Hermann and as it is quickly said in my profile I am retired from the French Air Force where I served for 25 years as an aircraft mechanic on Mirage 2000 NK2 then Mirage 2000D from 1994. I then became a mechanic on Fennec helicopter (the twin-turbine military version of the Ecureuil (Squirrel) helicopter from Airbus Helicopters formerly Eurocopter). I therefore have a logical interest in military aviation in general and of course in simulation. For several years I was doing flight simulation on MSFS then I discovered X-Plane 10 and I never left this flight simulator for its very high realism. I just have some notions to create liveries for aircraft with Photoshop and GIMP.

Hello Everyone

Hi all,

Just wanted to join in and say hello and say a few words about what brought me here. My X-Plane journey started way back in the mid-2000s when I got XP8 and then XP9 on a iMac I had back then. Prior to that, it seems flight sims have been a part of my life forever as I seem to remember having 'Flight Simulator' on the ZX Spectrum in the mid-80s! Then it was Microsoft Flight Simulator 5 which seemed incredible at the time - the textures! - then FS98; but by then I'd moved into flying in the real world where I became a flying instructor and gained a couple of thousand hours in various single and multi-engine GA types.

As I mentioned above, I discovered XP8 via a demo around 2006 and never went back to Microsoft. I stopped flying in the real world and drifted away from sims around 2009, but then rediscovered X-Plane with XP11 nearly three years ago and I'm here to stay (haven't yet got the hardware for XP12 though).

What draws me to this group is that over time I've unintentionally gravitated towards a military post-WWII/early Cold War theme with my activities as I find it so much more interesting - not just the flying but the historical research, studying mission profiles etc., so I'm here to contribute any way I can.

Before I came to Xplane

I am a long time combat sim flyer, but on PC I used Combat flight sim 2, then moved on to IL-2.

But with Xplane 11, the idea of being able to make my own aircraft, and still have combat was what appealed.

Now, I know it is the easiest flight sim to mod and have fun with.

	Hi

I thought I would introduce my self. I am currently working on Xplane 11 working on a flight simulator for the Mosquito (a WW2 aircraft) I don't have much experience with flight sims before and learning more and more on the job and on the forums and open to more ideas on developing it more.

So hi I got x plane 12 a while ago and found the org

After finding the org I believe I found this club and joined it because @alpeggio had some amazing mil aircraft and I saw he was the club founder. Anyways I am a big fighter jet fan and love all the freeware creators that make planes for free for x plane. Sadly I didn't find many of the instructional stuff in this club on how to do combat flying so I had to figure most of it out myself. This took a loooooong time to figure out and a few months after figuring it out I found the instructions on how to do what I had learned. I did figure out a few things from this but they would have been a great time saver. Anyways this is a great club with a good community with lots of great people.

Thanks everyone in this club for being so great and I hope to spend much more time in this club.

I just thought I would introduce myself.

I have been floating around the flight sim area for some years now although I'm not sure where I fit. I have interest in early aircraft, between the wars, WW2 and early post war jets although not exclusively military. I have tended to be a bit of a barnstormer though but seldom get into anything aerobatic or weapons as I like so may aircraft I get little time to fully learn each.

Years ago I did modify a MEe62 from FS98 to include the correct guns / damage boxes for CFS but have tended to avoid aircraft mods in XPlane as I could get too heavily sidetracked and have lots of other things on the go. From my background (engineering) I have constructed my own additional controls (sliders / buttons) to add to my current joystick and rudder pedals though.

I do a lot of reading into all aspects of military matters and equipment.

Hi all, I've been lurking for a few weeks now and thought I should introduce myself, I'm a RW helicopter pilot from New Zealand but I've just made my home in the US with my wife. Waiting for all of my permits to start working here. Because of the addons available for MSFS and the fact that I was working in Indonesia, I started working on RAF Tengah in Singapore. Got fed up with MSFS giving me stupid things that ruin flights so came back to XP12 and decided to continue work on Tengah. Early days so but the basic airfield layout is done. Got one other person working on custom objects for me as I don't have the time to learn proper 3d modelling It'd be great if we could get a Hunter and or Javelin for XP.

	Good morning

	My name is Witold
on the forum it exists as vi66 and this 66 is part of the date of birth
So I'm quite old now
I live in Poland

When it comes to military aviation, I have been gluing plastic and paper airplanes since I was a child.
These were mainly planes from the period of the Eastern Bloc and World War II, because these were the times when Poland was in the Warsaw Pact and other models were not available.

Then there was the army and I served in the Air Force
The main task was to disrupt the navigation sights of NATO bomber aircraft

At that time, our army had MiG, Il, An, Jak, Tu planes and Mi and SM helicopters.
(today most of them are in the museum)

And after the political changes, Poland is in NATO
and now our planes are F-16 F35 etc

But these geopolitical divisions do not exist in simulators, which is why I am interested in all planes from different eras.
especially military ones of various types

	Regards
Hello!

Great to be in the club. Started flying simulators on a regular basis back in the FS98 days. Switched to XP11 and then XP12. Grew up near a Strategic Air Command base (US) and have always been interested in Military aviation.

I now have a new problem - can't keep up with all the new Military aircraft to fly!

	A good problem to have!

I dont know much, but I've been in sims since fs8. Used to hang around calclassic and SOH forums. Gradually picked up painting planes as the creative part of the sim experience.

Coming to xp11.10 was an eye opener and i wiped my fsx partition in 2018. Have learned some about normals in repainting here, and a looooooong way to go.

Terrible sim pilot, never flew in rl, medical issue. But like many of us, i grew up loving piston engine planes, and big motor noise relaxes me - still.

Tho right now 3d modeling aint in the cards, im fascinated to learn how we can bring the past back to life in XP12.

Now retired from the US to Funchal, Madeira. LPMA, wot a landing zone!

Ciao, I'm Claudio, I'm Italian, I'm elderly and like everyone here I have a passion for flying but, as you can imagine from my image, it's not my only passion. In fact, more than 30 years ago I had to choose the thing I liked best and, between the two, I chose the horse (in the photo my quarter horse, Sissy Flower Olena) which somehow still has a closeness to flight ( if you think about it, the first flight units were made up of cavalry soldiers...). I recently got back into flight simulation and discovered Xplane and its community which completely won me over. I have tried different simulators but Xplane, given the way it is made, gives the possibility of deeply customizing every aspect of the simulation and scenarios. Unfortunately I have a medical background and I don't have computer programming skills but I would still like to make a contribution by learning new things, so I'm here... let's see what happens 😉

Ever since I was a little boy I dreamed of aircraft & flying, especially a WWII fighter aircraft as I was born in 46, just after the war. My first interest started with the likes of plastic aircraft from Airfix, Revelle to name a few. This eventually turned into visiting Air Shows & touring Museums. eg. Dayton AF Museum, Pensacola Navy Museum, Pima AF Base, WPHF in Canada, JAM (Jet Aircraft Museum) & so many others. I also remember seeing the CF-105 Avro Arrow, flying into CFB Trenton while we were driving to Montreal one day. A site to behold. I then got into simming starting with FS98, 2000, big into FS9 before converting over to XP11 & just this week XP12.

One of my fondness memories that I will always cherish, along with seeing the Avro Arrow, was while at an Industrial Trade Show at the Hamilton Airport (home of WPHF) I was given an opportunity of climbing through the Avro Lancaster that they had completely restored. This was all a result of talking to one of their mechanics who was servicing the plane at the time and telling him that I remembered climbing through this very aircraft years before it's restoration, when it was still on a pedestal at an old WWII Bomber Training Base up in Goderich, Ontario.

Yea! you can say I'm an aircraft nut.

P.S. If I can sit in the mall while she is shopping, she can once in awhile come with me as an example when we visited the Naval Museum at Pensacola. Hee! Hee! In fairness, we really had a good time though.
