Patch for X-Plane 12.4.1

For users already using X-Plane 12.3 here is the patch that adds the new Weather Radar to the 109 (now also Mac users can have a beautiful radar with Vertical Profile!)

The mac plugin comes also in a code-signed and notarized zip container so you don't have to fight with security settings

All functions of the Weather Radar Control Panel are supported (note that X-Plane's radar does not have a WXA mode, so we use X-Plane's TURB mode instead)

All settings are displayed in the WEATHER page of the ND (aka MFD)

The layout is work in progress but all works and shows consistently

as per real-life operations, tilt up to avoid\reduce interference from the ground

use the TKR keys to select a direction for the Vertical Profile (VP)

The plugins here are a very rough implementation (note: manual RNP mode now also available in the OBS page) but at least something happen

We need to understand

• what value to apply when the database has a blank (currently: 1.0

• how \ when to transition between different values (currently: abruptly as soon as the active waypoint change)

I have an observation about takeoff, landing and hovering attitude, as I believe in an AW109, takeoff, hover and landing (generally off course, as there are other variables like wind, slope, CG etc.) is supposed to be left wheel low. Whereas in xplane 12 version, most of the time you are slightly right wheel low or level, having a slight right translational tendency which should be the other way around. I have tested this in nil wind conditions. Surprisingly, xplane 11 version is slightly more realistic in my opinion. I have real world experience in both right and left power pedal helicopters, but never flew an AW109. Curious about your observations guys.

Above is just a small issue I noticed (maybe it is just a wrong interpretation and my feel), for a wonderful product, truly loving it.

In the manual I see a button on the rl Stick where the pilot can deactivate AP1 and AP2. As I love to fly this heli without SAS, I would like to have this function on one of my buttons. Unfortunately there are two sparate commands, one for AP1 and one for AP2. X-Plane does not allow me to bind two actions to one button. Is there any solution for this?

I bought the AW109sp today. And to say the least: it is an absolute nightmare until everything works. BUT it's well worth working through the challenges. It's an excellent product and is well worth a buy even if you own already the AW109 from XRotor (and even though Swiss REGA decided to replace them by E145s).

After buying, the heli just twisted around wildely and uncontrollable until it caused CTDs with X-Plane 12.4.0. Mainly a good reason to give up and ask for a refund.

But then I found crucial infos in the forum and worked through it: The Collective axis has to be bound to "Throttle", not "Collective" like in the old days... The flag-file from the extra folder goes into main folder and then there is a setting in the options somewhere if you want to see other things than red monitors. Another story is to undestand how everything works with my non self-centering Puma Pro Trainer. To fully understand it, I had to watch the page on the NAV display where the actual joystick position is shown and of course there's an option to activate for non-self-centering sticks in the settings... I even found an actual update in this forum. This whole process took me about 3 frustrating hours and almost gave me a headache. If there had been a doc for beginners in the same quality the heli is made with, I could have done it in 10min.

BUT then the AW109SP is just a joy to fly. Perfect to handle, good framrates on my rig and even a greater joy to fly in VR. I think this wonderful product deserves a much better documentation...

or use the declutter to enable the wx on the map page

you need to be airborne to actually see any signal

While flying virtually connected to FSEconomy and using the X-Trident AW109SP Grandnew aircraft, X-plane12 is freezing and shutting down.

Without FSEconomy, X-plane12 is freezing and shutting down, so I saw message Plugin Error CMain::ScanMAPs - could not open dir G:\x-plane\Maps// Loaded: D:\SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/X-Plane 12/Aircraft/Extra Aircraft/AW109SP v1.0 for X-Plane 12/plugins/109/64/win.xpl (109.x-trident.it). • AWG not working?

• when the battery is off, TAS and EFIS sync ON should only generate a mechanical click but they generate a ping sound

• on the secondary EDU, in Menu 2/3, CH-A is green but CH-B is also, it should be white, when switching to CH-B, CH-A should become white

• When the EFIS is turned on, the lower one should start as a ND, not PFD

• Main Util Charge message is always present

None of this decreases the usability of this excellent simulation, thanks again for making it happen

I am currently setting up my Stream Deck + to run certain in-game PFD, MPD, RPD and APMS functions. I'm pleased to report that, aside from the initial learning curve, progress is going splendidly and most of the keys are operating as they should.

The Issue: I need an outside look at a problem I'm having with setting up the Autopilot 1 and 2 buttons.

While depressing the in-game buttons each flight director toggles on/off independently as it should. However, pressing the Stream Deck AP1 button turns off both flight directors. A second push has no effect in turning them back on and pressing the AP2 button has no effect what so ever in turning anything on or off. The button lights are operating correctly and it appears as though the Command reference for AP1 serves only to power down both systems.

Here are the key Command reference values:

AP1 Command reference address is "sim/autopilot/fdir_toggle"

AP2 Command reference address is "sim/autopilot/fdir2_toggle"

The DataRefs are functioning correctly and mirroring the in-game buttons:

AP1 "aw109/autopilot/status/ap1"

AP2 "aw109/autopilot/status/ap2"

Software:

Windows 11

Stream Deck with the PilotsDeck plugin.

X-Plane 12 (Steam version) with the X-Trident AW 109 SP aircraft module installed.

The DataRefTools plugin doesn't show any activity when either of the in-game AP buttons is pushed. However, pressing the Stream Deck button associated with AP1 illuminates "sim/autopilot/fdir_on" on DataRefTools and turns off both AP1 and AP2.

I will include a screen capture along with the log.txt file as attachments. Any ideas on what I'm missing would be greatly appreciated as I have tried everything I can think of at this point.

As a retired military helicopter pilot I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I've spent so far with X-Trident's AW 109 SP. Thank you for your work on this amazing aircraft!

I was tired of being at Microsoft's whims

Switching to Linux Mint Was a Problem for the AW 109 sp, and also the gazelle in the civilian version didn't work.

It was the same problem in CachyOs, so I installed Linux mint but got the same error messages.
I have attached a screenshot and the log file

Just looking for some guidance how to best map the cyclic trim hat......

I have DIY controls....no spring to centre types.....

What commands for left / right / down / and up do you suggest........map them as follows:

sim/flight_controls/pitch_trim_up / down

sim/flight_controls/aileron_trim_left / right

Or

sim/autopilot/airspeed_down

sim/autopilot/airspeed_up

sim/autopilot/heading_down

sim/autopilot/heading_up

As you know the one trim hat does both.

And when do you use:

SPECIAL/buttons/trim_shift

This seems that you need a separate button mapped somewhere to toggle between the above?......which is non realistic and clumsy as cannot use the centre push button on trim hat as that is used for Auto-Hover (aw109/cyclic/hover_mode).

Finally what is this command used on pedals

sim/flight_controls/rudder_trim_left / right......SP pedals don't have a trim left or right....just FTR....FTR engaged use pedals manually....FTR released pedals auto-compensate for torque effect.

Just want to sort this out in my head for my DIY cyclic and pedals using VPF FFB

ISSUE

000) Plugin fails to load under GNU/Linux. Please install libGLEW. Not happy to static-link but we might if this becomes intolerable.

001) Consistent crash to desktop with ZINK enabled on some machines. Please just disable ZINK. We will investigate with Laminar.

This is mine. Enroute to and night arrival into Sydney Airport Australia YSSY into some wet weather.

I also acknowledge the Livery created by @Borba. I changed the Rego and added FHS which is my VA in FSHub.

Recently got the AW109 and been getting some practice in learning and getting familiar with the controls and overall operation of the aircraft.

However, I cant for the life of me figure out the installation of the addon that allows the use of the Wx radar in this aircraft and whether or not it actually can be used with default weather or does it need to be utilised with something such as Active Sky XP12 (which I own but is currently not in use).

I installed the openwxr folder as per the additional downloads thread. But there is other folders in there that I do not know where i put them or if I just slap them in the AW109 plugin folder. Also have the openwxr master plugin installed but no instructions found so not sure if even installed this correctly. 

I have tested the Wx radar in aircraft itself and getting no returns. Switched it on and made active on the ND map page but nothing, so I know I missing something and most definitely think I have done something wrong. 

I am using the Xplane 12 version of the aircraft with the latest patch.  

Apologies for my incompetence and any help will be most appreciated.
