	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I can't find an answer to this question anywhere, but can someone please tell me why the Lodestar is not for sale anymore? Would the developer still be willing to offer it on an ad hoc basis to interested parties like myself? Thank you.

	I'd love to see an update to the Lodestar. I've been flying it in X-Plane 12 and it seems to function normally. The sounds need a little work as there are error messages and the volumes seem a bit off to me. It's a great flier and one of my favorites for cruising around and radio navigation.
</p>

<p>
	Edit: As the product has recently disappeared from the ORG Store perhaps it is permanently retired?

	I get a lot of fmod related errors when loading the L-18 in X-Plane 12.00b2, but other than that, it seems to work.

	  I just bought your L-18 yesterday. In today's test flight I found the function of the tailwheel lever is strange.When I place the lever in "UNlocked" position,the plane always ground loops,and the tailwheel can hardly steer following the rudder input.However,when I lock the tailwheel,taxing became really sommthand confortable,just like an odinary Tricycle plane! Completely oppesite from any other taildragger plane.

	I have just done my first night flight in the JU52 (modern) and had a hard time seeing the runway, then noticed that there seems to be a bug in the Landing and Taxi Lights.
</p>

<p>
	When I turn on the Left Landing light I get a beam of light in front of it. If I turn it off and turn on the Right Landing Light I get the beam of light in front of that light. When I turned both on I was expecting to see 2 beams of light in front of the (1) Left and (2) Right but, instead, I got a single beam under the nose of the aircraft and no light beam from the L &amp; R Landing lights even though the lights themselves are lit.
</p>

<p>
	If I turn on the Taxi Lights I get the same single beam under the nose as with both Landing Lights on. So with both landing lights on all I get is the taxi lights.
</p>

<p>
	The fix needs to be ..
</p>

<p>
	Left Landing Light on ... Beam of light in front of Left Light
</p>

<p>
	Right Landing Light on .. Beam of light in front of Right Light
</p>

<p>
	Taxi Light on ... beam of light in front of nose of the aircraft
</p>

<p>
	All on ... 3 beams of light.
</p>

<p>
	Hoping the developer can fix this or anyone tell me if they have the same problem and if they have found a fix for it ?

	So glad to see that the aircraft has been updated now with new FMOD sounds! This has almost entirely guaranteed my purchase, especially since I've previously bought the Ju52 and LOOOOVED it. The new modern avionics package is a nice touch too.<br>
	<br>
	For my question, is there currently in this package (or is there planned to be) the tricycle gear configuration? According to Wikipedia:<br>

	I loaded my Lodestar last night for the first time in months and immediately remembered it's one of my favorite modules. Hi there,
</p>

<p>
	a few hours ago, I purchased the Ju52 and had fun flying the vintage version.
</p>

<p>
	Now I wanted to check out the version with the modern cockpit. Unfortunatelly, all three mixture levers do not work. Not by mouse (single and all three like described in the manual), not by keyboard and the behaviour when using one of my throttles of the joystick is very strange. It is possible to move the levers a bit, but then, they flip back to the cut off position immediately. That means, it is not possible to start the engines. Even not when loading a flight when the "load with running engines" setting is active. (Don't know the exact wording, because I use the German language setting.) The engines start, but stop after a few seconds. So, no flying with the modern cockpit? Do I get half of the price back?
</p>

<p>
	Any help is appreciated! Thank you so much!
</p>

<p>
	Regards,
</p>

	Hi, love the aircraft and been using it since V1. Now update to 1.1.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	However an issue I have is in both version, from a cold and dark start, the right engine just will not start. It turns, I can sort of "hear" it catch, but as soon as I release the starter the prop spins down. I have tried both with and without fuel pump and primers, but nothing makes any difference. Left engine fires easily and immediately. Yes, I have followed all instructions for the correct startup procedures. Any suggestions? FWIW I am using Vulkan on Windows 10. I don;t seem to experience this issue with any other twin I own either.
</p>

<p>
	Any suggestions, or has anyone else experienced this? I would prefer to perform cold and dark startups on each of my owned aircraft.
</p>

<p>
	If I enter the sim with the 'Start with engines running' checkbox however, both engines are humming nicely.
</p>

	Took this out for the first time today. Nice and easy start from cold and dark (which I like), but...how do you close the rear door? I didn't see anything in the manual, I clicked all round the door and the door itself and didn't trigger the (hidden) click spot. Tried the shift-F1 tactic to see if that worked. Only way I could do it was to re-load the plane with the engines running. There be some other control somewhere that closes the door. Any help appreciated.

	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	You guys from OlixSim have done a very interesting plane. I especially like the cockpit layout, much more useful than in other vintage airliners. There is also a persistence plugin for this plane already which makes it even more attractive <img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="//media.invisioncic.com/c334187/emoticons/default_smile.png" srcset="//media.invisioncic.com/c334187/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />
</p>

<p>
	I've done some test flights and have noticed some stuff that maybe could be fixed/adjusted.
</p>

<p>
	1. When there is moisture or snow on the ground and gets blown around by the engines it clips into the passenger cabin:
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://ibb.co/1Mz5bnC" rel="external nofollow"><img alt="om-L18-G430-2020-12-25-13-01-03.png" class="ipsImage" style="height:auto;" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/pQh8nPH/om-L18-G430-2020-12-25-13-01-03.png" src="https://forums.x-plane.org/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a>
</p>

<p>
	2. I really like the windshield icing, and that it's done in 3 steps (the second one is especially interesting when the wipers are working and are going through the snow-like frost), but they could be separated more in time. Right now they are pretty much going through mild, medium, to hard in like 15 seconds in normal icing conditions, which kind of wastes the fact of there being 3 steps at all.
</p>

<p>
	Here a screen, the xplane dataref for window icing is as low as 0.0060 (so, like 10-15 second in icing conditions) and the windows are already frozen solid and the other steps were visible for like 1-2 seconds each:
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://ibb.co/jTtRPB6" rel="external nofollow"><img alt="om-L18-G430-2020-12-25-13-07-34.png" class="ipsImage" style="height:auto;" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/BtkN5dz/om-L18-G430-2020-12-25-13-07-34.png" src="https://forums.x-plane.org/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />

</p>

<p>
	3. Also, would be wonderful if there would be drag spots to move the engine levers in pairs.
</p>

	I've been unable to roll the L18 in VR, so I've took on modifying some files to my preferences. Feel free to copy and improve.
</p>

<p>
	To enable rolling with the VR yoke change the yoke section of your vrconfig.txt files to:
</p>

<pre class="ipsCode">
BEGIN_MANIP drag_xy sim/cockpit2/controls/yoke_roll_ratio sim/cockpit2/controls/yoke_pitch_ratio
    YOKE_MANIP_ROTATE -0.59267 -0.27494 3.34763 1 0 0 0.00000 21.43118     -0.27523 0.330579 -0.07552 0 0 -1 0.00000 160.22075
END_MANIP</pre>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The throttle quadrant works well enough, but the experience can be improved by replacing the manipulators in the Cockpit.obj files - search for the commented out <em>ATTR_manip_drag_axis</em> sections and replace them with <em>ATTR_manip_drag_rotate</em> as seen below. The sections and values are the same for each cockpit file.

	Could not find a free online POH, so broke down and bought an inexpensive one for the civilian model, titled L18 Operating Instructions. I intended to upload for everyone's use, but the file size is too big.  It has great descriptions of the systems, though weaker on operating procedures as you'd find in say the C-47 manual.  While oliXsim may not have used these numbers in his development, I pass them along as informational-only, as I didn't run across them in his documentation/checklists:
</p>

<p>
	Vref = 56kts (this surprised me).  Landing roll = 750ft.  Take-off Roll with 10% flaps = 870ft.  Take-off roll to clear 50ft obstacle = 1500ft.  There were no Vr/V1/V2 speeds listed.  Vy = 112kts.  Vyse = 101kts.
</p>

<p>
	Max power for take-off (1-min only) is 41"/2300 RPM or 39.5/2500.  METO = 800 BHP (not sure how to translate into MAP) at 2250 RPM.
</p>

<p>
	Max Cargo Load = 3,400 lbs.  Not good compared with the DC-3's 6k lbs of cargo.
</p>

<p>
	Max CHT Emergency = 500F, Max Continuous = 450F. Max Oil Temp = 185F.
</p>

<p>
	For take-off, it says to use 39.5/2500, and as soon as TO assured, retard to 35/2200.  At 1kft AGL, normal climb is 30/2150 or less.  The manual speaks a lot to the plane's auto-mixture controls with the pilot just having 3 settings: EMERG-RICH, CLIMB and CRUISE, but I don't think that's modeled in xplane.  In just very limited testing, I didn't find the mixture controls to affect CHT at all, short of engine cut-out. Olixsim would have to speak to.  Once 30/2150 set, mixture is put in the CLIMB setting, throttles go to max, and the engine controls handle the rest (though again, I don't think that exists in our module).
</p>

<p>
	Cruise RPM = 2000.
</p>

<p>
	For decent &amp; approach, use 20/2000, then adjust pitch for desired decent rate.  Mixture back in the EMERG-RICH setting for the approach.  Just like the module's documentation/checklists, there is no Vfinal given.  Very strange.  Vref is the 56 kts.
</p>

<p>
	If you lose an engine on take-off, unaffected engine goes 39.5/2500.
</p>

<p>
	No Vbg listed.  By definition, it's 1.3 times Vs0, but that's not given either surprisingly.  If you go with Vref, Vbg is about 73kts, though that's likely high.
</p>

<p>
	If there is something else specific you're looking for, let me know and I'm happy to see if the operating instructions cover.
</p>
