I am interested to buy the BN-2 Islander but I want to know how much it relies on the SASL library?

I use Linux and the SASL library for Linux is broken, it has been like that for a couple of years now. The problem is that planes that use it like Thranda products for example, don't work properly on Linux. I had a long discussion with the Thranda developers and showed them the error messages but they didn't know where they came from. They are not from X-Plane nor from Thranda so we concluded that it was the SASL library that was at fault. I believe that SASL is a Ukrainian product so we are unlikely to get any updates for a long time, if ever, unfortunately.

If the model relies heavily on SASL, then I will have to pass and also, for the same reason, on the Thranda version!

Intercepting a VOR bearing/radial with autopilot via NAV2 doesn't work. Using the provided NAV1/NAV2 switch just toggles the RMI needle to whichever VOR station you have tuned in, either NAV1 or NAV2.

Can anyone confirm, please?

There was a minor problem parsing the VRCONFIG: Aircraft Nimbus BN-2B Ialander V1.1/Islander_vrconfig. txt. You man need to update the airplane or report to the airplane's auther...

So I restarted the sim - same problem. Then I deleted the aircraft and installed a new download of the aircraft. It wanted me to activate again then, and refused saying that Activation count was exceeded.

Please advice.

It does not work via the X-Plane flight control.

Just bought the BN2 - I've not even flown it yet but I really wanted that hPa altimeter, so I've made a mod for the textures to convert it!

The attached zip has two PNG files, hpa_alb.png and hpa_lit.png. Overlay these onto `X-Plane 12/Aircraft/Nimbus Islander/objects/IslanderInterior_paneles_ALB.png` and `_LIT.png` in a good paint editor e.g. paint.net - after backing up the original files, of course. If more detailed guidance is needed let me know.

I've included the SVG if you'd like to tweak the colours, fonts, etc.

The scale should be accurate to within a millibar or so - the screenshot is at Papa Westway with QNH 1013 and the airfield elevation is indeed 90 ft!

Maths: I made a mark for 945 hPa and positioned it at 27.91 in.Hg on the original scale, and another mark for 1063 hPa and positioned it at 31.39 in.Hg. They were 12° apart so I decided 348° = 118 hPa and built the scale from there, working upwards from 945 hPa.

The attached files are my original work (using the B612 font which is under the SIL open font licence) and I am releasing them into the public domain - if Nimbus would like to incorporate or adapt them into a future Islander update I'd be honoured but I'm sure the devs are more than capable of making such a texture themselves!
