Common Questions & Misconceptions

"The installer is installing things deep into Windows / changing my system" No. The only things created are a Start Menu shortcut and the xjet folder inside your X-Plane 12 directory. Your Windows system files are not touched.

"Do I need to install Java separately?" No. Java is fully bundled inside the Product Manager - you don't need to install anything else.

"How do I uninstall or remove xjet?" Simply delete the xjet folder located at X-Plane 12/Resources/plugins/xjet/. That's all.

"How do I update the Product Manager / xjet?" Just re-run the installer you downloaded from the store. It will automatically remove the old version and install a fresh one.

"I already have xjet installed from a previous Airfoillabs product - do I need to worry?" No. The new installer will handle it automatically - it removes the old xjet folder and installs the current version.

"It's unclear how to update xjet" Simply re-run the Product Manager installer. Alternatively, delete the xjet folder manually and run the installer fresh - it will install a clean, up-to-date version.

We are releasing a critical update to our Product Manager (XJet 2.1.1) to ensure full compatibility with X-Plane 12.4.0 and later versions.

If you are running or planning to update to X-Plane 12.4.0+, it is essential that you update your XJet/Product Manager to the latest version. Without this update, you may experience issues such as plugin errors, failed aircraft loading, or other unexpected behavior with your Airfoil Labs products.

What you need to do:

1. Go to the X-Plane.org Store and navigate to your product download page.

2. Download the latest XJet / Product Manager installer. (Alternative Download - https://forums.x-plane.org/files/file/67109-product-manager-xjet/)

3. Run the installer — it will automatically overwrite the old version. There is no need to delete anything beforehand.

4. Restart X-Plane.

Who is affected?

Anyone using Airfoil Labs products (King Air 350, C172, or any other AFL aircraft) with X-Plane 12.4.0 or newer.

Why is this update necessary?

X-Plane 12.4.0 introduced changes that affect how third-party plugins interact with the simulator. This XJet update addresses those changes and restores full, stable functionality of all Airfoillabs products under the new version.

On starting XP12, the following text appears and XP12 crashes to desktop

[LWJGL] Failed to load a library. Possible solutions:

a) Add the directory that contains the shared library to -Djava.library.path or -Dorg.lwjgl.librarypath.

b) Add the JAR that contains the shared library to the classpath.

[LWJGL] Enable debug mode with -Dorg.lwjgl.util.Debug=true for better diagnostics.

[LWJGL] Enable the SharedLibraryLoader debug mode with -Dorg.lwjgl.util.DebugLoader=true for better diagnostics.

Transition level (9800) is below transition altitude (11800) in ZLYA. Discarding TRL.

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Attach the log file, in which the last line says

[XJet] 2025-11-22 09:09:43,201 [INFO] GlobalPlugin – Loading addon path: /home2/mark/local/XP12/Resources/plugins/xjet/global/manager, class: com.airfoillabs.xjet.AddonPlugin

I've reinstalled the King Air with the latest version of the installer, with no change.

XP12 doesn't crash every time, but it does crash most times.

Advise appreciated how to get this installer working and the AFL KIng Air 350 installed on my Linux XP12.

Had it on a windows system but a port across does not work.

I downloaded and installed Kingair and AFL for Windows. However, I don't understand how to install Kingair.

I'm running X-11 on Linux Mint

XJet is in my Resources/Plugins directory

Every time I load the King Air 350 it shows the pilot in the way and completely unable to use the gauges or fly it (see sc 2).

Can you please assist as this is getting a little frustrating.

However, when I launch X-Plane 12, the plugin has never successfully run. The logs always show failure to find libjvm.so, falling back to another location, then a generic failed message "Failed: /mnt/steam_library/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/X-Plane 12/Resources/plugins/xjet/64/lin.xpl. (The plugin refused to start by returning 0 from XPluginStart.)"

This seemed somewhat similar to problems others have reported in this forum, where an incompatible version of java was found and used to launch xjet. I have tried different java versions, both open-jdk and oracle java, and tried setting the java.home parameter in xjet-launcher.properties and jvmplugin.properties with no success.

The plugin always seems to fail to find libjvm.so, even when that file is in the path it is searching. I'm not sure whether this may be related to using the Steam version of X-Plane 12, if for some reason the process cannot see system libraries?

This is on Arch Linux, I've attached an example log snippet.

after half a day i got the xjet-plugin for xp11 working.
I've recently started using Ubuntu 22.04 and had massive problems getting the plugin to work. After hours, I had picked up a hint somewhere that Java 8 JRE is still required. I then installed this with:

sudo apt install openjdk-8-jdk-headless

. However, that was not enough. Now I just had to teach the xjet plugin to use V8. Adding the following line to the vmplugin.properties file in the xjet directory then worked:

java.home=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre

The problem for AFL is that you can't automate something like that under Linux ;). Too many uncertainties in the distributions. But a detailed guide could help
I could also imagine that a similar variant could also lead to success at Apple.

I guess the simplest place to start as what is the correct syntax or path when you start up project manager to identify where you want to install the new copy of the 172. It does not seem to be any way within the request to locate any outboard devices that I wish to install the aircraft on this one has me puzzled. I'm sure it's simple but my old head is not thinking clearly really appreciate any help you can come up with many thanks.

A small update of Product Manager + XJet plugin 1.5.1 was just published. It mainly solves issues with Reshade plugin compatibility and OpenGL inicalization crashes fixes.

How to update:

1. Please download new Product Manager HERE or from any of our product purchases on store.x-plane.org.
2. Make sure X-Plane is not running.
3. Launch Installer.

Notes:
1. Is one installation package that contains:
     Xjet plugin - Essential so that all Airfoillabs products could work with X-Plane 11.
     Product Manager app (works as standalone app or inside X-Plane 11) - Software distribution, auto-updates and DRM system.
2. Product Manager/xjet always automatically deletes old installations. It never does anything outside of ..\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\xjet folder.
3. Previously xjet was able to update itself via Product Manager. This feature is no longer supported as it created very complicated interdependencies, resulting in different issues.

Have a lot of exciting flights in X-Plane and be safe.

The Manager will not install into XP12, thus precluding the subsequent installation of the C172NG.  Oh, it goes through the installation process and reports completion - it even adds the XJet folder into the plugins folder of XP12 when viewed in File Explorer.  BUT - the manager does not run upon XP12 startup like it should, and there is no "Airfoillabs" folder in the plugins menu in the upper left of the screen after XP is running.  I am thus apparently locked out of even installing a fairly expensive airplane.

Curiously, since the plane is also available for XP11, it DID install OK in that sim.  So it is not a total loss - just the XP12 portion; but of course that is the one I wanted....

Recent updates of Product Manager + XJet plugin 2.1.0 were just published.

How to update:

1. Please download the new Product Manager HERE or from any of our product purchases on store.x-plane.org.
2. Make sure X-Plane is not running.
3. Launch Installer.

I have tried removing and reinstalling various versions of JRE and JDK from version 8, 17, and 22 but there are no changes. Other java apps will run completely fine and it is only the AFL product manager that gives me these problems
