X-ATC-Chatter now supports the Skunkcrafts Stand Alone Updater

X-ATC-Chatter now supports the Skunkcrafts Stand Alone Updater that can be used to update the X-Plane player / Simple ATC. Clip collection updates are still handled directly within the X-ATC-Chatter player and are not managed by the Skunkcrafts updater.

To enable the use of the updater, use the following guide to install the Skunkcrafts Stand-Alone Updater:

Note: You need to be running v3.2.d.go or higher of the updater.

X-ATC-Chatter 1.7.3 and above ships with the two CFG files needed to tell the updater where the production and beta repositories are located. If you are running X-ATC-Chatter 1.7.2 or lower, you must manually install the two CFG files as outlined below.

Unzip the attached zip file to a temporary folder and then copy the resulting two .cfg files to the X-ATC-Chatter root folder. Shut down X-Plane and start the updater, which should be located in the root X-Plane folder per the above guide. You should see X-ATC-Chatter listed.

Note: If you run the updater in beta mode and it shows the beta repository as locked for maintenance, this means that there is no active beta running.

If you run into any issues, report them in this thread.

Amazon Polly SAPI Plugin

I recently learned that Amazon no longer supports the Amazon Polly SAPI plugin that makes Amazon Polly voices available as SAPI-5 voices on Windows. The Simple ATC feature of X-ATC-Chatter can use SAPI-5 voices to give you more voices for controllers.

Are you using the Amazon Polly SAPI plugin to get these voices? It is fairly easy for me to enhance X-ATC-Chatter to interact directly with Amazon Polly and not rely on having SAPI voices. I would just like to know if anyone was using Polly.

X-ATC-Chatter plugin causing crash with XP12.4.1-b1

I've got the latest prod version of X-ATC-Chatter installed (1.7.3). After installing the latest XP12 beta (12.4.1-b1), I get a crash to desktop when trying to load into a flight. I've removed almost every plugin I usually have installed. I kept plugins necessary for activating my purchased aircraft and the SPAD.next plugin. With just these base plugins, I get no crash. As soon as I put the X-ATC-Chatter plugin back in place, I get a crash to desktop.

Good morning,

I still use X-Plane 11 (for VR) without ATC with X-ATC-Chatter version 1.7.0. no problem.
I updated to latest version 1.7.2. and since this update when launching X-Plane (scenes and loaded plane) I have this warning window:

"X-Plane ATC Auto Tune radios appear to be enabled. X-ATC Chatter may not work properly."

How can I no longer have this warning window?

I tried everything to cancel this window on startup but without any effect.

For information, I don't use ATC and I haven't changed any settings since version 1.7.0.

Simple ATC: I would like to change the text colour of the Pilot's voice

Hello. I would like to change the text colour of the Pilot's voice in the Communications window from the default RGB green to dark blue. When I use the translucent window the green text becomes very difficult to read. Is there a way I can change it myself? Thanks.

Simple ATC in Spanish

I wonder if it's a way to make Simple ATC use Spanish when flying in Spanish speaking countries.There are already some Spanish speaking voices that can be installed. If there is a way, I volunteer myself to do the translation of the scripts needed.

As a pilot project it would elevate Simple ATC to another dimension in realism.

I cannot get X-ATC Chatter (1.7.3 final) to work with SI (3.2.2.9). Any items in either app settings which need to be changed? I disabled AI Radio Chatter in the SI Traffic tab in settings assuming X-ATC would step in but it has not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fatal Errors Intermittently

I am looking for help with surprise CTDs or freezes with XP - intermittently.

This one has happened twice now, same airplane, different routes. The first time broke something within X-ATC-Chatter and XP12 would not start until I removed the folder. I put a copy from my backup in and all was well. Until this time. The first time was 11/9/2025 with this same CTD and info in Event Viewer.

Log.txt has this info at the bottom:

I had heard another guy on the other forum having problems with Traffic Global - seems he and Jim Kier at LR worked together to figure that out. Strangely, the conversation starts, moves to Community Help, then the conversation trail disappears. This is not good, to me it means they don't want it public. Apparently, Traffic Global will be getting an update to fix this, but LiveTraffic has not been mentioned. The issue had something to do with problems with "any plugin that creates models" according to this fellow. This would make sense. Both traffic programs create models. I don't use Traffic Global, I use LiveTraffic but had similar freezes. I removed LiveTraffic and flew 3 or 4 times in different aircraft without a freeze or CTD.

Also, on 11/14/2025 XP12 refused to start and a window popped up saying X-ATC-Chatter has a problem. I removed all plugins and started XP12, then added all plugins back and it worked OK. Mystery.

I do not overclock and my system has been stable all along so I am confused. This all started with XP12.3.0 betas and hasn't been right since. I was having intermittent CTDs all the way until the final version 11/5/2025.

I am removing LiveTraffic for now, and will see if I have any further issues. I haven't seen LiveTraffic mentioned in any of these crashes.

No audio device tab

Hi Mark, for some reason I have suddenly lost all my chatter. I then noticed that in my settings box there is no tab to select an audio device. I am running XP12.3.3.r1 and it is saying I have the latest version and is up to date. I have also updated X-ATC-Chatter to the latest version via Skunkcraft updater. I have normal sound in XP, including ATC. For some reason my Chatter is not working. Any help greatly appreciated.

Repeating Bug Messages Using X-ATC Chatter Check Box

Hi Mark,

I noticed on discord I'm not the only one having an issue with X-ATC checkbox and Say Intentions AI. I didn't know what was causing the issue until I found a post on discord and I tried unchecking the box, now no more repeating messages of a bug.

So that is three people I know of that is having this issue.

Integration with PilotEdge ATC

I have written a little LUA script (for FlyWithLUA) that provides integration with PilotEdge. Whenever you transmit or are receiving from PilotEdge, Chatter is instantly paused. It will remain paused for 15 seconds after the last PilotEdge xmit or recv. Since PilotEdge always uses the "real" frequencies for ATC service types, the Chatter will be correct (Tower, Approach, etc.) I've attached it here.

Do not turn on Chatter's "External Integration" when using this script. It doesn't need to use the modes because PilotEdge uses the published frequencies for everything, so Chatter will provide the right type of stuff anyway. That made it very simple to provide this integration.

UK - Farnborough Radar 125.250 not working

I have the latest x-atc-chatter and audio files in x-plane 12

I always seem to find that farnborough radar 125.250 which covers quite a wide area in southern UK I never hear anything from x-atc-chatter which otherwise seems to work fine elsewhere

The frequency is correctly showing in the x-atc-chatter panel as known

How do I file a bug report ?

After installing Windows 11 Pro, X-Chatter-ATC standalone player no longer plays any chatter clips. Any ideas what Micro$oft may have broken this time? Is there a driver or some difference in the way the player drivers works between Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro? I never had any issues with this addon, ever, in Windows 7 Pro, or 10 Pro.
I also use Traffic Global, but it's audio still seems to work just fine.

All this is in X-Plane 12.3, but I already had 12.3 when I changed operating systems last week. No other system changes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
