I had just been cleared for the BUDD03 arrival into KCPS and when I tried to select the arrival in the G1000 MFD, the program crashed. I love the Epic E1000-G made by Aerobask and hope that the developers of this great plane will soon update it to be completely compatible with X-Plane 12.

I was able to turn them down a little bit (knob to left of PFD), but I would like to turn them off. They are awfully bright. I looked for a breaker, but there were none for the lights. Any clues?

I am seeking technical assistance with the Epic E1000 G (G1000 Edition) in X-Plane 12.

I am a 71-year-old former Air Force Navigator with an extensive simulator setup, including a 55-inch LG OLED display and a Next Level Racing motion platform. I am having significant difficulty getting the AviTab/Navigraph integration to display correctly on the center MFD.

The Issue:

1. Menu Confusion: When I click the silver "Epic" logo at the top of the dashboard, the pop-up options menu appears, but it does not show any options for AviTab or "OIS" integration under the Main or Options tabs.

2. Gray Screens: After attempting to link my Navigraph account and clicking "Aircraft Integration" within the AviTab menus, the cockpit displays (PFD and MFD) turn solid gray and become unresponsive.

3. Mapping Difficulty: I have tried to locate the "touch-spots" on the MFD bezel and the silver logo toggles, but I cannot get the moving map to "jump" from the side EFB onto the center dashboard screen.

Environment Details:

• Simulator: X-Plane 12 (latest stable version)

• Aircraft: Aerobask Epic E1000 G (G1000 Edition)

• Hardware: Moza AY210 Force Feedback Yoke / MTQ Throttle

• Plugins: AviTab (latest version) and Navigraph Charts

I would like to know the exact step-by-step process to force the AviTab moving map onto the center MFD without crashing the Garmin display logic. Any simple, numbered instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Once read, then take in account the following:

• clicking on the BETA range below the throttle lever will actually put you in REVERSE.
• the AH500 annunciation panel will always show BETA MODE for any actual modes.
• disambiguation is done on the custom engine display on the MFD, showing either BETA or REV accordingly.
• you MUST assign keys or buttons to BETA and REVERSE toggle for properly managing the engine.
• while in BETA the throttle lever manages the propeller pitch, not the throttle (which stays idle)

I'm running XP 12.3.3. on Mac Mini M4 with 24 GB Ram and Running on Mac OS Tahoe

So it should run fine. Sometimes it seems to run ok but then other times it stutters severely

not sure why and how to fix it. Sometimes I have to simply restart XP

any suggestions welcomed

I looked at the Aerobask website, but did not see the Epic E1000 low res liveries.
Could you please show where the low res liveries are located?

(In other Aerobask models I have a livery marked as "Low-Res 2K", but not in the Epic...)

To smooth out the autopilot's roll performance, I made three tweaks.  All in Planemaker: Expert>Autopilot.  
o Reduced Localizer CDI gain (.ACF: deg_psi_per_deg_def) from 015° to 008° course change per degree of CDI needle deflection. 
o Increased roll rate (.ACF: ott_roll_rate) from 15.0 to 20.0 deg/sec.
o Increased roll response time (.ACF ott_roll_response) (how soon to start rolling out of a turn) from 04.0 to 10.0.

If you want to soup up the already-great performance, and cruise at 411 KTAS at FL400, upgrade the engine from the stock PT6A-67A to the PT6A-67P (Pilatus PC-12 conversion, by Blackhawk. A real-life engine, although I haven't heard that anyone has STC'd it for the Epic.)
Same 1200 horsepower
        Planemaker:Standard>Engines>Locations tab, upper-left,
        ACF:  power_max_limit. 
Reduce power to 1200 if it's slightly greater, increase exhaust thrust to 0.10.  (The stock 1210 is Equivalent Shaft Horsepower, to include a bit of thrust from the engine exhaust.  X-Plane 12 accounts for exhaust thrust separately so the propeller doesn't have to handle it.) 
         Planemaker:Standard>Engines>Engines tab, "turbine and recip hp to exhaust to pounds of thrust" 
         .ACF:  exhaust hp_to_lb 0.10. 
Higher critical altitude, 25,000'MSL: 
      ACF:  crit_alt_m (it's in feet MSL, not meters). 
      For free turbines like the PT6, Planemaker displays "max temp for full power" instead of critical altitude.  It's still crit alt in the .acf file.  Planemaker:Standard>Engines>Engines tab, top-left, 369°C for 25,000'MSL.

Engine weight:  Stock PT6A-67A:  506 Lb.  Upgraded -67P:  554 Lb.   The P weighs 48 Lb more.  That would add to the aircraft empty weight in Planemaker:Standard>Weight & Balance or .ACF m_empty. Epic hasn't published a CG chart, and I couldn't find a moment arm for the engine, so I took a guess and moved the empty CG forward by .25 ft (3") from 12.6 to 12.35 ft aft of datum.

.ACF: acf/_cgZ 12.35.
[ Flyingmag.com ] said the plane tends to go out-of-CG forward with a light load, rather than tail-heavy with a heavy load like many planes. The solution is to add weight, perhaps a sandbag, in the rear baggage.

Blackhawk ITT limits: continuous 840°C, takeoff 850°C for five minutes.
    Planemaker:Standard>Systems>Limits 1, top-of-green, and redline. 
    .ACF green_hi_ITT 840.,    red_hi_ITT 850.

Increase prop design TAS to 380 KTAS.
Planemaker:Standard>Props 1, lower-left. 
    .ACF _des_kts_acf. 

Decreased oil temp scale factor to 95°C, make-believe someone fitted a better oil cooler so it's not so oil-temp limited on hot days.
    Planemaker: Standard>Limits2, upper-left, leftmost column.   
    ACF:  _max_oilT

Other changes:

Increase crew oxygen (since we can fly higher) to one Mountain High KF-115 = 115 cu.ft. = 3,257 liters@1850psi, 26.3 lb full, 10 Lb heavier than the stock bottle. Empty weight 4600+10=4610 Lb. 
    Planemaker: Standard>Systems>General 2, Pressurization (right-center), Crew Oxygen 3257 liters. 
    ACF File:  acf/_o2_bottle_liter 3257
    acf/_m_empty 4610.000 (Lb)

Increase pressurization max differential to 9.7psid (669hPa), to hold 7500' cabin alt at FL410 if you're running 100% Ng. If you run less power, the cabin alt will get higher.  I kept the larger oxygen bottle even with this change, because if you ever simulate a pressurization failure, or an idle descent from FL410, you'll need the oxygen. Control the oxygen with Dataref Editor, find datarefs "c yg". Use Demand Flow Setting 2 below 10,000' cabin alt, Setting 8 above.
Planemaker: Standard>Systems>General 2> Upper-right, "maximum allowable pressurization."
ACF:  max_press_diff
(During certification, the E1000's fuselage was tested up to 18 psid [Flyingmag.com]. Don't know how the increased differential would affect the E1000's cycle life, unlimited at the stock differential.)

Increased all wing and horiz stabilizer incidences by +5.0° to fly more nose-down and improve the view over the nose. Planemaker: Standard>Wings. Might lose a little fuselage lift, but climb and cruise performances are still very good. Cruise attitude on the artificial horizon is 5.0° nose-down, as expected.
