Hello,

I started building my home cockpit today (well, i got one encoder working more or less correctly which is a success really) and i wanted to know if you guys (ddenn, any other creators) have access to physical dimensions of the instruments and other parts ?

At the moment i'm mostly interested in the glareshield (Autopilot+MFD Controls) but in the end i need all dimensions of each panel

I know there is the 140$ Cockpit poster from globaljetservices but i need something in pdf which i can use to 3-d print and cnc mill the given panels

	Any help apprecieted

As a seasoned long haul captain I'm into the heavy metals like Peter's A380 or the absolutely magnificent 777 by Ramzess. So purchasing the Challenger 300 was really just a "shiny object" moment. Shortly after it was released I saw the picture and just bought it right away.

And then it sat there. Of course it looked beautiful but I didn't take her "round the block". With a range, barely enough to cross the Atlantic it just didn't really fit into my every day flight routine. Seemed like I wasted quite bit of money on a nice looking jet on which the FMC wasn't working.

Now, many month after blindly purchasing this plane I got a bit bored with all the worlds major airports. However, the biggies don't really go to smaller airports. An A380 fully loaded just wouldn't make it off the ground at a place like LOWL, let alone ENRA. Since I developed quite an interest for the world of business jets, god I want one, the Challenger 300 seemed to be a good fit.

So I took her out for that first training flight familiarising myself with all the different systems. At first I was devastated by the fact that it didn't have an auto throttle system. I hated that about the ERJ-140 and the CRJ-200. So big disappointment.

But then as I got to know her it didn't matter. I have never been in a (x-)plane handling so well. The throttle control is phenomenal. Even with my X52 joystick I often struggle to fine tune the throttle on my big jets. Not so on the Challenger. It's very precise and I always get thrust I want.

Then there's the steering as such. I consider smaller planes to be "to busy". They seem to wobble around and react too violently to any movement on my stick while a heavy metal is much slower and more controllable in my eyes. For example, I'm a terribly 737 pilot. I hardly hit the runway while I'll put each wheel of the A380 exactly down where I want it to be. Not so with the Challenger 300. It's handling allows me to hit the perfect spot each time. The ~800m runway of ENRA has become one of my favourite spots to practice that.

But what about in-flight behaviour. Not too bad! The lack of an auto throttle doesn't matter. All you have to take care about is to reduce thrust on occasion. The Autopilot works a little different from what I'm used to on large airliners but the principles are really all the same. After one flight you get used to it.

Setting frequencies and squawks is a pain I think. It's done through two knobs. One selects the desired setting the other does the actual changes. While this works great in real life it's a huge pain in the backside doing it with a cursor on the computer screen. It would be great to have an extra panel for that.

Another issue I have is the lack of it's own FMC computing it's own set of navigational data. I went through great length building the tools I need to operate decent online flights with the standard X-Plane FMC using current data. If I wouldn't have had those things in place already I'd be forced to go with old data taking a lot of the fun out of it.

Those two are the only real issues I have with this amazing plane. I'm absolutely hooked to this machine. It allows me to visit even the smallest airports, to go off-route and to really enjoy some manual control. The 3D interior is fantastic and matches the great exterior.

I'd like to say thank you for this plane. The Challenger 300 really is a fun plane. And even it's limited range which usually isn't enough for a hard core long hauler like me doesn't matter once you get the hang of this plane. To me, it's the perfect plane of choice when I feel like doing a short hop or I only have 6-7 hours available. It's really a work of X-Plane Art and plays in the highest league, just like the CRJ-200 and the B777-200LR.

I agree. I have practiced hundreds of approaches under various payload/CoG settings, landing speeds, flap configurations, and weather conditions, and still find it virtually impossible to consistently execute smooth landings in this aircraft. In particular, it seems that even mild crosswinds cause the plane to become unstable at low altitude; near touchdown I routinely experience seemingly exaggerated pitch and roll effects. Also, there is no flare out at touchdown in this plane; any attempt to pitch the nose up in standard landing configuration, even ever so slightly, leads to porpoising down the runway, and ultimately an ungraceful if not hard landing. Also, I notice that immediately after touchdown the plane is prone to nose over, or to tip sideways (leading to wingtip strikes), and/or to skid uncontrollably (presumably all due to crosswinds, even mild ones). In general, the plane flies at low altitudes as if it has no weight/mass/downward inertia whatsoever. I notice that when shooting a precision ILS approach, leaving the CL300 on AP until just before touchdown dramatically improves one's chances of executing a smooth landing. But again in my experience, trying to land this plane by hand, in any sort of weather, is typically extremely difficult (I imagine much more so than the real bird, despite Ian's reassurances to the contrary). Perhaps this is a problem with XP itself, or my particular XP installation (though I cannot imagine what this might be???). Of course pilot error is also a real possibility. I am not a real world pilot, but I think I have enough sim experience to recognize when something is badly amiss. Btw, I am running XP-10.41 and have the latest version of the CL300 from the .org store. Oh, I should perhaps also mention that I use XP's auto-throttle when flying this plane to ensure steady control over my speed when landing (ideally, I believe, around 125-130kts at touchdown under the conditions in which I normally fly).

So, Denis, if you happen to read this post, I implore you to recruit some expert help to correct this issue. Otherwise, I absolutely adore the CL300; it is a beautifully executed model, and everything else works swimmingly. Thanks!!!

Just bought the Challenger 300 yesterday - an amazing bargain in the Org sale! Loving it...

I have a few questions, which maybe folks who have been flying this aircraft for some time might easily be able to answer:

	1. I'd like to be able to map the FLCH, AP/YD DISK buttons (etc.) to my Saitek joystick.. I fly VR and doing this via the VR handsets is not always convenient (i.e. you need to keep your hands firmly on the yoke to fly the plane at that juncture). Any way? I can't see there's a mapping provided. There have been some really weird choices made for what can be mapped to a joystick: Toilet door open/close, but no AP disconnect or similar!

	2. The AviTab is nicely placed on the yoke, but for me it's too low down: I find it very hard to see the map clearly for instance without stooping or zooming in. Is there any way the 'console' can be tilted upwards? In several other a/c I have which incorporate AviTab, it can be manipulated in that way - but I can't seem to do it in this one. Not sure if there's a 'grab' spot I cannot find..

	3. Does anyone know if the real-world aircraft is quite this 'racy'? The main thing that strikes me as 'unrealistic' is the constant need to use spoilers to descend.

I think there was something else, but if there was, I can't remember what it was as I type this! I'll add it if necessary 🙂

	Thanks

The message I get on Crash is as below and I have attached a Pdf of a screen shot. Currently product is unusable so would appreciate some help / clues about how to resolve this.
