Add XP12 Weather effects to XP11 Sceneries - XP11 to XP12 Conversion 2.0.0

(4 reviews)

2 Screenshots

We all know the problem, we have got a nice X-Plane 11 scenery, but it does not support the X-Plane 12 water/weather tech. (puddle simulator 😉 )

This simple and easy to use Python scribt will change that in seconds.

YOU ONLY NEED THAT FOR X-PLANE 11 SCENERY PACKAGES!!! 🙂

V2 out!

The tool now finds the location itself and supports not square polygons.

Available as an .exe file.

Download the "v2" version!

How does it work:

There are two Versions the Python Version and the EXE (Windows only).

First: EXE Version:

Step 1: Drop all the files/folders inside the "EXE (Windows)" folder into the root folder of your Scenery.

Step 2: Double click the "ApplyWX.exe" and follow the instructions.

Python Version:

Step 1: Drop all the files inside the "Python" folder into the root folder of your Scenery.

Step 2: Install Python

Step 3: Double click the "ApplyWX.py" and follow the instructions.

Notes for developers:

You are free to use this script to convert your scenery packages and publish them as freeware (in this forum and other similar forums).

However, please do not redistribute the script/application, so please remove the “ApplyWX.py” (Python version) or the “ApplyWX.exe” and the “_internal” folder (EXE version).

You can use the weather map images for the above purpose ("TOGAWXRA.png"/"TOGAWXSQ.png").

Old Version:

How does it work?

1. make sure you make a backup of your scenery.

2. search in the Scenery package directory for a folder that contains the .pol files for the ground. It should look like this:

image.thumb.png.112740f70ccbecf7d6283f539341cef8.png

3. download that file (Weather_effects_TO-GA.zip)

4. unzip the file and drop "ApplyWX.py" and "TOGAWX.png" into the folder with the ground .pol files (step 2)

5.install python from here Download Python | Python.org (skip if already done)

6. double click "ApplyWX.py" and follow the instructions on the screen

7. start X-Plane, you're ready to go!

Why didn't it work?
The most likely reason is that the polygons in your scenery package are not square, as is the case with most sceneries. These are skipped by the script because the weather map of the script is square. 🙂

I hope I've helped you with that small tool, leave a comment/review and report Problems + ask Questions. I expect it to work at 90% of the Sceneries.

Greetings TO-GA

What a wonderful gift to the community!  I ran the .exe version on my custom scenery folder that includes True Earth North and South California.  It took less than a minute.  The results are just as promised.  I took a few Screen shots to show the water effects. KHAF and KMRY.  Just brilliant!

Hi,

Glad you like it. 🙂

I'm sorry to say this (as your review is very kind), but I would be very surprised if the Script changes something with the ocean in X-Plane as it was intended to apply on Asphalt and Concrete surfaces. (Or am I mislead by your Screenshots showing the ocean?)

Anyway, thanks. 🙂

There are many great old scenes that will not be updated to XP12

And the rain effects along with the change of the vegetation and lights are the basis of the changes on the old airports

A well-deserved five stars

Best regards

Really good. I manged to do 6 sceneries in less than 5 minutes. If you have older XP11 sceneries then run this.
