Free E-Jets for X-Plane

This version works for both X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12

 

We are celebrating 10 years of X-Crafts, and to celebrate this milestone, I am super happy to announce that our once-payware E175 & E195 v2.5 are now free, updated, and fully optimized for X-Plane 12. However you can still access our previous version v2.5. for X-Plane 11.

The latest version of our Free E-Jets, which is v3.0, comes with a huge number of improvements as compared to our previous release of v2.5. The most notable enhancements are in the autopilot, avionics, and exterior texturing. However, the complete list of changes is over 100 items long!

Upgraded Avionics & Autopilot

This version brings a lot of notable improvements, like a Higher Resolution Nav Map displaying TOD, the FPA Autopilot mode, a new vertical path indication, and the Preview mode. While our free E-Jets still lack many features of our payware version, these updates bring our Free E-Jets a lot closer to the actual avionics and autopilot and they will certainly make them much more enjoyable!

Freeware vs. Payware E-Jets

The Free E-Jets are completely different products from our Payware E-Jets and they are not representative of our payware products. In short, the Payware E-Jets will make every part of the flight much easier and more enjoyable, because the Airplane will do most of the work for you. 

The Freeware E-Jets are a very basic rendition of the real aircraft. You will have a lot of fun, however, you will have to operate most systems manually. In our payware E-Jets, you'll discover the simplicity of E-Jet operation compared to other airliners. With an Authentic FMS, VNAV and a multitude of automated systems that have made them favorites among real-world pilots, they offer a unique chance to experience truly authentic E-Jets.

We always want to make learning our products easy and fun, so just as with the payware E-Jets Family, I created a Step-By-Step Demo Flight video, in which I explain how to operate these Free E-Jets and point out all the things that might be incorrect or the workarounds you need to do, due to some missing features in the Free E-Jets

Systems & Avionics

  • Embraer style PFD, MFD, EICAS displays.

  • Pop-up screens

  • MFD now features a High Definition Map and 8 synoptic pages

  • Most systems are set up and operational within the limits of native X-Plane 12 systems with some additional customization

  • PFD now includes the Preview Mode, correct VOR/LOC and Bearing indications.

  • The horizontal Deviation Pointer is displayed 4NM before TOD which provides guidance for the descent

Interior Visuals

  • High-resolution textures

  • Intuitive cockpit manipulation - The cockpit is user-friendly with enlarged clickable areas for easy interaction with buttons, knobs, and levers.

  • Detailed cockpit lighting - Many cockpit lights are controllable

  • Cargo area modeled

Exterior visuals

  • High-resolution textures with enhanced exterior materials and PBR Textures (But far from the detail and accuracy you would get with our payware E-Jets)

  • Detailed landing gears, flap and speed brake mechanisms, but not as accurate as our payware E-Jets

  • Wing flex animation

  • 2 versions of winglets are available on the E175

  • Pilots in external view

  • All doors are animated and controllable from a plugin menu

  • All exterior lights included and fine-tuned for X-Plane 12

FMS

  • The Free E-Jets use the Native X-Plane 12 FMS which allows you to build any routes using SIDs, AIRWAYS, STARs, HOLDs and more.

AUTOPILOT

  • Implemented native FMS and Autothrottle in X-Plane 12
  • Implemented FPA (Flight Path Angle) mode

ENGINES & FLIGHT MODEL

  • Adjusted startup sequence parameters and timing

COCKPIT

  • Only the left MFD, EICAS and right FMS are available on DC power (batteries) like on the real plane. The rest of the avionics load with AC power (APU, GPU or engines running)

  • Enhanced altitude knob animation
  • Added scroll wheel manipulator to MFD for map zoom control
  • Removed old pop-up panels
  • Increased the size and usability of some manipulators

PFD

  • Enhanced FMA to accurately display the Autopilot mode annunciators including:
    • Armed LOC and GS
    • Magenta LNAV and Green LOC, HDG, FLCH, VS, FPA, ROLL
    • Introduced autothrottle indicators for SDPT and SPDE
  • Updated CDI needle colors to match real aircraft
  • Stretched vertical scale on artificial horizon to mirror real PFD
  • Enhanced FD Bars visuals. Only the Cross bar FD is available in the Free E-Jets
  • Implemented FPA mode indications
  • Implemented the PREV (Preview) function to preview the approach guidance while in LNAV
  • Improved bearing indicators for VOR and ADF frequencies display
  • Mach Speeds don't show at low speeds

MFD

  • Upgraded to a higher-resolution map with more accurate waypoint indications
  • Added TOD indication
  • Replaced "Navigation" button with correct MAP and PLAN buttons

EICAS

  • Disabled erroneous Master Warnings
  • Cleaned up unnecessary EICAS warnings
  • APU Temp now reflects accurate values
  • Enhanced flap and trim indications to match real aircraft

MODELING

  • Enhanced fuselage, engines, and tail textures
  • Resolved transparency issues
  • Updated windshield and window textures
  • Added rain effects to windshield and windows
  • Updated wipers and separated wiper switches for independent operation

THE BASIC FLYER

  

Your planes are AWESOME...Very realistic for freeware (I plan to mod them but just for myself, due to terms), (BTW CONGRATS FOR YOUR BABY!)

Awesome model. I like how there are many docs and videos available on how to fly this plane; very helpful

I really like these planes but one issue I noticed was that at altitude in heavy winds the plane starts porpoising wildly. The engines speed control doesn't seem to be able to hold a precise speed setting either. This all happened with a lightly loaded plane with good center of gravity so dont know what thats all about. Everything else about this plane is lovely.

If (like me) you can't afford the last ones for now, you'll find  very nice flight's companions with these two planes. 

They are somehow a bit complex to learn but they give you a lot for your efforts.

Steve did a very large collection of videos on YT covering every essentiel system of the planes.

Got and enjoy them, they are gold.

As a person who only uses freewares, I appreciate this addon so much. Its such an amazing addon FOR FREE!!! I've had a ton of fun using it

Even took it across the atlantic lol

As a freeware contribution it doesn't get better than this.  It appears to work well in XP12 too, no crash on my Mac.  Thanks so much for your generosity, these planes are fantastic!

I want to thank you for consistently being the best dev in the X-Plane community both in terms of customer service an product quality. I have been following the development of the new E-Jets family and I can only say good things from what I have seen. Making the E-Jets 2.5 a freeware is a testament to your view on customer satisfaction and the fact that you still addressed the worries that previous owners could have had because of this is extremely impressive.
