Prefab scenery for 25000 airports 8.4 for XP12 and 8.3 for XP11

(80 reviews)

27 Screenshots

Version 8 is the latest update of the 25000 airports package for X-Plane.

V8.3 = XP11
V8.4 = XP12

IMPORTANT
Laminar changed the contents of the Global Airports to include 3D AND 2D airports, which causes a problem for the previous versions of the Prefab packages.

Contrary to the previous versions this new version has to be placed ABOVE Global Airports (and BELOW any other airport packages as usual). It will not overwrite any 3D airports in the Global Airports folder (only 2D airports without buildings).

The library is unchanged, so V8.0 of the library should be used for V8.3 and V8.4!

Description
This scenery package contains 25000* (computer generated) airports with 33 types of sceneries (in 3 different layouts and 3 climates zones), which I call Prefab airports. Only small airports with 1 runway are included.
The package helps filling the empty X-Plane world and is mainly meant for all those airports for which no Custom Scenery is available (yet).
In general the preference for any scenery is, from most attractive to least attractive:
-       Custom Scenery (available in the forum)
-       Global Airports with scenery (lego brick airports installed by Laminar)
-       Prefab airports of this package

Please note(!): this is NOT the order in the scenery_packs.ini file -> there the Prefab packages should be placed above Global Airports.

* To be honest: it was 25000 but with the growing number of 3D Global Airports it becomes less with each new update of X-Plane, which is good!

All the Prefab airports in the package have:
- Scenery: buildings, hangars, planes, FlyBy planes (in the air), 3D people etc. (see images)
- Taxiways with signs, lines, centerlines, lights and runways holds
- ATC routes (only package 1), can be used with X-Life and WorldTraffic
- Platforms with ramp starts and fence around the airport
- Airport boundaries, exclusion zones and ground textures
- All original X-Plane data of airports (ATC frequencies, beacons, etc.)

I have included several options to customize the packages (ground texture & fence on or off, etc.): see the PDF document.

WorldTraffic and X-Life
The ATC routes can be used to create Groundroutes for WorldTraffic (tested with XGRC 2.5 made by Sca1ey). To use the Prefab Airports with X-Life, please follow the tutorial on my website: 4xplane X-Life. Please note that X-Life will only work if a procedure file is present the X-Plane GNS430 folder (see my website for more info).

Download and installation
You can find more detailed instructions in the PDF!

Content to download
- x_Prefab_Library_xp    : Library package (absolutely needed -> choose the normal OR the MisterX version)
- x_Prefab_XXXX             : Just download the continents you would like to use (USA are 3 separate packages)
- x_Prefab_FSE_Airports : special package with missing airports for FSEconomy (www.fseconomy.net)

- PDF with instructions + Tutorials and list with airports

Scenery_packs.ini order
These packages contain a lot of airports, but they are now build using the new exclusion method (http://developer.x-plane.com/2015/12/a-new-way-to-exclude/). As a result you will only see a Prefab airport if no other scenery is available.
IMPORTANT: for this version you should place the Prefab packages below ALL other airport scenery BUT ABOVE the Global Airports folder in the scenery_packs.ini file (see instructions for more information).

Note on the Prefab Library
A while ago I made a new library in which I reworked the scenery elements (AGP files) to change the static airplanes to versions of the MisterX library: higher quality but a bit less variation. I never found the time to publish it, but here it is.
NB: don't forget to download the MisterX library if you want to use this version (see requirements).
The old library is still available as well, so choose the version you like best.

Requirements
-       X-Plane 11
-       MisterX library (version 1.51 or higher): only needed if you choose the MisterX version of the library
-       3D people library (by dkm, version 3.8 or higher)

-       OpensceneryX (version 2.1.1 or higher)
-       Optional: Autogate plugin (by Marginal, version 1.6 or higher)

FSEconomy
For FSEconomy just add the x_Prefab_FSE_Airports to your Custom Scenery folder. This will add all missing airports (see my website: http://www.4xplane.nl/fse-runways/). In many cases the FSE package will indicate that you should use an X-plane airport with another ICAO code. You can find an explanation how this works in the manual.

Credits
In my package I have used or included objects made available by the following members: MisterX, dkm, Chris Noe, Marginal, Jacques Brault, fschutzman, FlyByGuy, gplv3, Al., capnsully and Einstein (hope I didn’t forget anyone). Thanks!

Special thanks for Ben Supnik from Laminar for making the new exclusion method and for sending me an updated version of the DSFTool to create the new exclusions!

I hope you all (still) like it!

Cheers,

Matthijs (MH1212)

So, I really want to like this. However, it isn't doing anything as far as I can tell. I am using X-Plane 12.1.1. I installed OpenSceneryX and the 3D People Library and then installed this with the normal Version of it's library. I used the FSE folder and the library, but not the regional folders.

There was an FSE airport called 83TC that I couldn't find. Turns out that this airport is called T83 in X-Plane 12. So I did some searching and testing of different orders for the scenery_packs.ini file. And nothing worked.

I have included two versions of the scenery_packs.ini file and X-Plane logs from running with those two files. In each case, I searched for the airports shown in the how to PDF. I searched for 00AL and didn't find anything, and searched for 3M4 and found Epps but not the placeholder airport. I also searched for LECH and got LECH but not LECHX. And finally, I searched for FSE since the title of the 00AL airport has that in it's name, and did not get any FSE placeholder airports.

Hello, I see that I have a problem with the airport LEMB ( Madrigalego Burgos ) with Ivao does not recognize it and I put the LEMG ( Malaga ). Is there any way to delete that airport from the folder? The bad thing is that it is all by DSF files. How could I identify this airfield and future? Thank you.

This is very good. Sorry for the mean comment that I made. This is awesome!

Just a quick note for everyone - somehow the folder structure for the FSE airports got messed up in the Xplane12 zip file. Change /x_Prefab_FSE_Airports/x_Prefab_FSE_Airports/Earth nav data to /x_Prefab_FSE_Airports/Earth nav data

It does a nice job when you're sitting on the ground, cold and dark.  However, in the air it's very jittery, too many things to be drawn by the CPU?  Turning down the number of world object didn't help.  There wasn't a significant impact of fps but the image wanted to stutter all the time.  Quit when I uninstalled it.

Just wanted to add that despite originally made for the X-Plane community some eight years ago, the updated Prefab Scenery for 25000 Airports still comes in handy and works great in XP12 to bring life to empty airports not yet addressed in Global Airports or otherwise.

The Prefab airports even play well with the change of seasons in XP12. Still a must-have scenery enhancement.
Thanks @MH1212!

Great Work on the airport library.

Just a note about the pdf file with instructions in the download file. The written instructions in step 5 listing the correct order for the scenery_packs.ini entries is consistent with the instructions here above. However the immediately following screenshot shows moving the x_Prefab files AFTER the Global Airports entry instead of before it.

Response from the author:

Hi,

You are absolutely right! I will see if I can update the PDF with instructions this week.

Thanks for the heads up!

Best regards,

Matthijs

EDIT: PDF updated!

Another great addition to the simulator.

I've dowloaded Xplane only a few weeks ago and i'm very impressed to see how this community is working so well, thanks to all the people spending time to make the experience better!!

For this package, i would say that it's great to land on airports or airstrips instead of empty runways. I like to fly Africa, and it's really game changing for me!! The sceneries are well done, with even little surprises when looking around.

Thank you sir, and thanks to all the objects and libraries creators !!

I'm in a very good place. I've got your excellent auto scenery on small landing strips, and a new release of Sim Heaven Australia and Oceania working together, and I've only decided to explore this region in the last few days.

I'm not interested in photo real scenery, so I'm really made up with frame rates generally well above 80, a small business jet licensed for gravel and grass strips and fast enough to cover the distances at speed. I've a smile on my face.all the time

Thank you so much

Here we go 😃Screenshot_1.thumb.jpg.7ffdff65fa9c5dbba9de8fcbce3f5cf0.jpg
I have disabled all scenery files, then reloaded it again, the collision is between xPrefab and Custom Scenery/Orbx D GB North.
The scenery-pack.ini file must be very carefully "tuned", especially when you have "Scenery Farm" like I do.
What makes me confused is that the problem arouse when I was EnRoute from LDRI to KEDW, and not trying to TakeOff from XPLO.
Now it seems that everything is OK, I will try to recreate whole route to see if error message will pop up again.
I have uploaded new log.txt

Hi, great work!
I'm using xPrefab for long time but yesterday after update/upgrade to last version I have experienced following error:

12:48:04.553 E/SYS: +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: | You cannot have a linear section without a new taxiway header
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: | The bad airport is:
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: | Select XPLO for FSE UK10
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: | Custom Scenery/x_Prefab_FSE_Airports/Earth nav data/apt.dat
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: | (airp.cpp:2719)
12:48:04.553 E/SYS: +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

files are at the same place where they have always been and *.ini file modification didn't help

Hi,

EDIT: I am happy to see that you managed to solve the problem!! Looks great BTW!!
===================================================================

I just tested on my PC with X-Plane 11.50r3 and I don't get any errors at all, which makes it difficult to help you. This is my log so you can compare:

Image 1.jpg

Perhaps you could try to disable all other scenery packages except the Prefab packages and all other libraries. Here is a screenshot how it should look (plain vanilla):

Cessna_172SP - 2020-10-28 08.43.18.jpg

NB: the plane is not on the runway because you selected airport UK10. It is transparent, because X-Plane does not not know UK10 and XPLO is close by (to the left). In these cases the name of the airport tells you what to do -> "Select XPLO for FSE UK10" -> so select XPLO in X-Plane.

I hope you can find the problem or get more info so I can maybe help you!

Best regards,

Matthijs

I can't believe I didn't give a review all this time! This really improves the random landings throughout the world. XP is improving their airports world wide but its smaller places that need more detail. Thank you so much for this!

An excellent package which has opened up several FSE destinations for me.

Can I put in a specific request for your next update?

The current FSE prefab scenery includes the old (now defunct) GVFM aerodrome for Praia, Cape Verde. Unfortunately, this interferes with the new GVNP airport which is just to the Northeast. Since FSE is very unlikely to be updated to use the new airport, would you be able to apply your 'invisible runway' technique to map GVFM to GVNP in X-Plane?

For now, I have simply removed GVFM from the FSE Prefab apt.dat file. That corrects the appearance of the new airport but at the expense of losing a FSE destination.

Response from the author:

You are right: those airports are very close by:

image.png

I do have several methods to detect conflicts like this -> the FSE airport should have been transparent + comment added to select the XP equivalent.
Perhaps I need to update the datatable with "closeby" airports. I will check for the next update!

Thanks!

Cheers,

Matthijs

EDIT:

I just checked to see what happened. I use a distance of 2000m to mark an airport as too close: GVNP and GVFM are located 2063m from each other (center to center) 🙂

FSE simply selects the closest airport in its database -> you wouldn't think so, but there a quite some airports close by. So increasing the limit could have some unwanted side effects. There are a lot of workarounds needed to get the old FSE database working in XP 😞

I think I will increase it to 2250m in the next update, hopefully without side effects

HELP! I installed the packages for the USA and I understand the directions. Starting out at KMIA, the following Screen appeared.

Attached is the Screen image and my LOG.TXT file. I would very much appreciate some help from the wonderful X-Plane Community on how to correct these issues.

Background:

  1. I am using xOrganizer and it has helped on many occasions
  2. When an add-on Scenery is installed I have also added whatever extra files to the Custom Scenery folder as requested so I am confused as to why issues still arise.
  3. I am happy to do a screen share session or phone call to answer any questions you might have that would help you address my issues.

Thank you all for your support.

Response from the author:

Hi,

I did not see the Prefab library package in your log, so you probably forgot to install it or did not install it correctly. If you correct this, your problems should be solved.

Hope this helps!

With the new update of X Plane 11.33 the "Prefab scenery for 25000 airports", stopped working for the main airports. I installed the version of this program (7.2) and nothing has changed. Is the developer of this program preparing a new compatible version for the 11.33 X plane update?

Response from the author:

The problem is caused by the decision of Laminar to fill the Global Airports with all airports in the database: 3D and 2D (which were always placed in a folder outside Custom Scenery).

I did send them an email to ask for a change. They did change something for me in the past, but unfortunately they did not respond yet.

For (hopefully temporary) workaround see the "important" note in the description above. Admitted: it is not ideal, but until Laminar responds it is hard to decide what to do.

Best regards,

Matthijs

This mod is working great, thanks for your work.  I can spawn at any of the airports very easily for FSEconomy but I can't navigate to them.  How can I get the newly added airports to show up in my gs430 etc?

   1 of 1 member found this review helpful 1 / 1 member

I installed this pack solely for UT75 and upon loading into UT75 i my plane began to fall of a clift. The airport is in the wrong position and the runway runs up the side of a clift. i dont want to give it a bad review because i've only tested this one but im a bit disappointed

Response from the author:

UT75 is part of the FSE package -> this package is based on the MSFS database, which is what FSEconomy uses with their gameworld. This data is very old and has its problems, but for some airports like UT75 it is all there is...

You can probably fix the problem with the cliff by flattening the surroundings. There is an excellent explanation in the comments section on how to do this.

Hope this helps!

This is Super Scenery !

And the PDF "installation and use" document is very useful, so it's easy to be worked well.

Thank you Much !

It is impossible to review this product on the current X-Plane.org web site because the limit of 5 stars simply isn't fair.

This is a 10 star project for FSEconomy pilots.
