OpenSceneryX
If you've downloaded a scenery package that says 'Enhanced by OpenSceneryX' then you need to download this to see the enhancements.
OpenSceneryX is a collection of x-plane scenery objects, contributed by various members of the community free-of-charge. The library has become a comprehensive set of high-quality scenery elements for use by any scenery author, reducing the time taken to build a custom scenery package and reducing the load on X-Plane. OpenSceneryX is built as a proper x-plane library, which means that authors don't copy objects out of the package into their sceneries, instead they reference the objects directly from the library. So, if several authors have used the same church from the library, that object only needs to be loaded once by x-plane.
We are now starting to integrate third party libraries, where the author has generously contributed their entire library to OpenSceneryX. The following libraries are fully incorporated, so you no longer need to install them separately:
- RE Library by Richard C Elliott (einstein)
- FlyAgi Vegetation Library by FlyAgi
- FlyAgi Wind Turbine Library by FlyAgi
- DT Library by Darrell Thompson
- FlyAgi Vegetation Global Trees by FlyAgi
For the following libraries, all content has been fully included but essential changes had to be made to the items, so you will still need the original library installed to support old packages that used it:
- Flags of the World by Mr 3D and Chris Noe. All flags have been rotated by 90° to conform to the OpenSceneryX standard.
- Flags of the USA by Mr 3D and Chris Noe. All flags have been rotated by 90° to conform to the OpenSceneryX standard.
Downloads and more information including a complete preview of all objects included can be found on the website: www.opensceneryx.com. Instructions for scenery developers are also found there.
