Airport of the Week
Can you guess the name of the airport below (hopefully easier than last weeks)?
If so, why not attach a screenshot in the comments section...but DO NOT mention the name (gives others a chance) ?
Clue: Fly into an airport where echoes of the Old West still resonate. This location was once a favoured haunt for fur trappers and pioneers.
Well done to Gason, Lysan, WalSch, Dennis Powell, and Benkornflies, who correctly guessed last week’s airport, which was Los Cabos International Airport (MMSD).
Wingtip Wit
Prepare for yet another hearty dose of humour as we delve into this week's Wingtip Wit section! Unleash your creativity, unleash your puns, and let's see who can concoct the wittiest caption this time around. So, fasten your seatbelts, engage your funny bones, and let's get started!
Did You Know
Did you know that during WWII, some airfields employed 'FIDO' (Fog Investigation and Dispersal Operation) systems to tackle fog? By igniting petrol in pipelines alongside the runway, these systems generated sufficient heat to disperse the fog, enabling planes to land in conditions that would otherwise be deemed impossible.

VSKYLABS DC-3 Airliner v2.0b2 was just released!
Available now here: https://store.x-plane.org/VSKYLABS-DC-3-Airliner_p_1676.htmlThe update is available via the SkunkCrafts updater, store-build version was updated also to v2.0b2.
VSKYLABS DC-3 Airliner support forum:
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/forum/779-dc-3-airliner/What's new? ...Among other items:
-
New Mixture and carburetor systems, replicating the C-47/DC-3 mixtures operation with maximum authenticity. Mixture levers are set in 'steps' from cutoff, auto-lean, auto-rich and emergency positions. Auto-lean and auto-rich are fully automatic modes, with separate control for each engine. This is a huge leap in authentic C-47/DC-3 simulation and operation.
ATTENTION: MIXTURE LEVERS REQUIRES CUSTOM ASSIGNMENTS IN V2.0. PLEASE REFER TO THE 'ESSENTIALS' PDF FILE AND THE INCLUDED MANUAL. - New fuel system allowing full control of all four tanks, feeding each engine in separate, like in the real C-47/DC-3. There is still a minor nuance regarding AUX tanks transfer at the same time - specified in the included POH/Manual.
- Flight Dynamics - Tuneups to aircraft performance (rated power, SFC, LRC performance, single engine, two engine climb and cruise performance and handling), refinements of empty-CG configuration, allowing increased stability especially in lightweight configurations.
- Various enhancements and bug fixes.
-
POH/Manual update - worth a quick read before flight, to cover the changes.
(The full update log is available in the project package and at the store).

Airport of the Week
Can you guess the name of the airport below?
If so, why not attach a screenshot in the comments section...but DO NOT mention the name (gives others a chance) ?
Clue: Steer towards an airport where cacti stand tall across the arid terrain and roosterfish navigate the coastal shallows. Further offshore, marlin perform acrobatic feats, tempting those who seek the ultimate catch.
Well done to Lysan, Gason, Benkornflies, Dennis Powell, and WalSch, who correctly guessed last week’s airport, which was Gustavus Airport (PAGS).

Did You Know
Did you know that specially trained dogs are used to manage bird hazards at certain airports? These "super pooches" patrol the grounds, chasing away birds to reduce the risk of bird strikes.

If so, why not attach a screenshot in the comments section...but DO NOT mention the name (gives others a chance) ?
Clue: Nestled near the doorstep of a national park that's larger than some U.S. states, this airport serves as a gateway for adventurers seeking glaciers and fjords. If strawberries also catch your interest, you'll find both the fruit and solace in its surroundings.
Well done to Dennis Powell, Gason, Lysan, avigal, Kerm1t, WalSch, Gernot Weber, and Europa Dan who correctly guessed last week’s airport, which was L.F. Wade International Airport (TXKF).

Did You Know
Did you know that during World War II, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber was able to safely land despite having a completely severed tail? Known as the 'All American,' the bomber's tail was nearly torn off after a collision with a German fighter but still managed to return to base, becoming an iconic symbol of the B-17's resilience.

I am thrilled to announce that KDEN - Denver International Airport V2.0 is now available as a free update to all users! At nearly a year of development time, this is the biggest update I have ever released! All the terminal areas have been remodeled from scratch, as well as the GA ramp, cargo ramp, and all of the major hangars, all at dramatically higher quality! Some other new features you can look forward to are:
- Complete remodel of terminal areas, including new terminal expansions as of 2023
- Full highly detailed terminal interiors complete with animated 3d people
- Brand new cargo ramp models
- Brand new GA ramp models
- New SWA hangar
- Retexture of all major hangars
- Major overhaul of ground textures
- Brand new grunge textures
- Brand new jetways with lite interiors
- Tons of bug fixes and clean up of old issues
- Tons of optimizations to make KDEN one of the best performing sceneries available, despite the very high amount of detail.
Best of all, this update is free to all existing users! So if you already have KDEN, delete your current version, and head over to the X-Plane.org store, and redownload and install it! If updating from a prior version, please completely delete your old KDEN folders, and redownload all the provided files for KDEN.
Don't have KDEN yet? Well, now's a great time to pick it up from the X-Plane.org store!

Airport of the Week
Can you guess the name of the airport below.
If so, why not attach a screenshot in the comments section...but DO NOT mention the name (gives others a chance) ?
Clue: In a land where the Atlantic Ocean meets the sky, this airport offers more than just a landing zone. Born from a wartime past, it now serves as your entry to a palm-fringed paradise.
Well done to Gason, and Lysan, who correctly guessed last week’s airport, which was Cape Fear Regional Jetport (KSUT), also known as Howie Franklin Field.
