I am currently updating my version 8.64 M-10 Microjet to 9.45. But... I'm new to Planemaker 9.xx.

The nozzle and exhaust, as shown in X-Plane 8.64, are the way I designed it (right screenshot).
Yet in 9.45:
1. the nozzle paint gets lighter near the mouth (center screenshot)
2. there is a weird halo around the exhaust, extending forward about half-way up the nozzle (left screenshot).

What accounts for this difference from 8.64 to 9.45?

I couldn't find any parameter in Planemaker 9 to adjust such a thing, e.g., exhaust dirtiness.

The center shot with the light nozzle i believe is from the sunlight. Try during noon with no clouds.
Exhaust dirtiness can be found in the standard>engines>SFC/sound tab on the bottom right
i can't help you with the halo effect around the flame but it annoys me too because i move the engine location point into the nozzle, so when the burner comes on it gives it a more realistic effect of actually coming from inside the nozzle, instead of at the end of it. the downside is that the halo effect sticks out of the side.

X-Plane 9 has a new, improved graphic engine but some things still remain. The brighter borders it's the same issue you could see in v864 but they looked darker in that previous version (it happens when polygonal shapes are stretched too much and/or the ends are placed "inside" the figure to create, f.e., a nacelle or an air intake). You can solve it by duplicating the outer section.

The business of the afterburner flame being larger in diameter than the nozzle is due to the diameter of the compressor that was stated in the engine specifications. Try reducing the diameter of the compressor and see what happens to the afterburner flame.

it seems his flame is the correct size but the outer flame is to big, if he goes smaller than the inner flame will be too small and it would look kind of ridiculous, like it is created out of nowhere.
there should be a way to disable one or the other cones.
Would it affect engine performance/dynamics if he chose a compressor area other than what is set?

Saladudo, thanks for the suggestion. Duplicating the outer section eliminated the lighter "paint" near the mouth, as the screenshot below shows. But changing the compressor area has no effect on the excessive AB halo, nor does it affect engine performance/dynamics.

Again, notice that there are two flame cones. The inner flame is determined by compressor area and that has been set perfectly since 8.64... its the surrounding halo outside the nozzle that is undesirable.
