then when the simulator is running, select the LD button on your FMS computer. this stands for LOAD.

Please Help, I just bought X Plane and am a total Noob at it.. I just need the basics, will pave my way from there.. also, when I am about to take off, and add Thrust the Aircraft Moves towards the right.. This always happens unless I set it on allowing the PC to take off for me.. is this because I have been playing around with the configurations ?

I let GoodWay (comes in freeware and shareware flavors) create the flight plan then tinker with it. You can type the plan into your fms or, if you have the shareware version, export an fms plan from it. If you've just loaded a saved fms flight plan and decide to file it online via X-IvAp, the plugin will take the plan from your fms - no need to type any of it. You can follow your flight on the org's map too.

Props will tend to pull right or left - basic physics - so increase the throttle slowly and make minor corrections with the rudder until you've exceeded the sensitive steering-speed point then the steering sensitivity reduces while the rudder gains more power. If you need a lot of steering at speed expect your plane to want to bank a bit on liftoff. You get used to it but each plane has their own distinct character. Powerful props like the TBM 850 in real life need to dial in a lot of rudder trim before takeoff.

I think I have the same question. for instance I want to fly the cirrus jet from vaernes to sola. In fsx, you click on flight planner and enter it with the option of direct, high, low or vor to vor. How do I achieve this in x-plane. Sorry I'm new here, and All I do is take off and fly around and land on the same runway, and it's getting a little boring

so, the real question here, since you want to use X-plane over the spoon-fed convience of MFS's flight planner program,

is are you ready to learn how to make a flight plan the way real pilot does?

there are alot of places on the net with sectional charts you can use to plan a flight.

I use Airnav.com for flights within the contiguous USA, internationally Vatsim has a nice chart resource that

can be used for forming a flight plan. (http://usa-w.vatsim.net/charts/)

If I may, I would like to offer a couple tips for flight planning that you may find helpful for getting started.

1. check the weather at departure, enroute, and destination locations. remember Icing considerations if your aircraft isnt equipped to deal with potential freezing moisture.

2. make notes! write down radio navigation aides, frequency's, abbreviations for use in GPS systems ( example: GEP= Gopher VOR station 117.30 mhz) also be aware if your aerodrome has established arrival/ departure procedures. To fly as the pro's do, you're going to want to learn to plan and execute these type of flying operations. It's not brain surgery, just taking the time to learn basic navigation. make your notes complete, everything you will use from the time you un-chock your wheels to the time you tie down again.

3. if you make good notes about your route, and you are proficient enough with your airplane of choice, you will soon be making up your own flight plans just like the pro's. Well, fairly close to it anyway. the basic's are there.

if anyone else can chime in on good scources for international charts, or flight planning recourses that would be good.

99% of my flying is within the United states airspace.

This brings me to my next question: In FSX and predecessors, I would create a flightplan, and on autopilot, the plane would automatically select the next waypoint. with the payware sofisticated aircraft like the eaglesoft citation x or wilco citx and legacy, where fms is "fully"? implemented, all one did was import the plan into the fms (or create it manually), and if you were on autopilot, then the waypoints changed sequentially automatically. In x-plane 9 it seems you have to manually enter the next waypoint for the autopilot to follow (correct me if I'm wrong, I base this on goodway shareware) even with gps. If what I said is correct, is it the way it is in real life, because I want real. If not, how is it done in real life?

I am looking for a website in which you can create flightplans that are used on real aircraft. I tried simroutes.com but as I generate a new flight is only gives to two airports, no points between them

Try flightaware.com go into pilot resources,once there find a link that reads "recently used ifr routes" or something along those lines. Then all you do is put departure and destination. If there is a match it will show,then all you have to do is copy paste to your favorite flightplan program. I'm still looking for one for xplane since I used to use FS Build. But now I just got Xplane and clueless as to where to find one.

X-Plane aircraft work this way as long as they're equipped with the FMS. The stock heavies (747 and 777) and the Beech King Air are, for example. See my previous reply for more info.

So if the aircraft doesn't have FMS, you have to manually enter the next waypoint?
