I have an NVidia 8800 GTX running on my PC with the latest forceware drivers from NVidia (169.21 WHQL). On my setup (X-Plane 9 beta 13 running on Windows XP SP2) there is image tearing/flicker while panning around in 3-D cockpit mode and during steep turns. I understand this can be a symptom of problems with vertical sync and I was wondering if this could be symptom of vsync being turned off since beta 11. I tried overriding the vsync setting with an app specific profile in the NVidia control panel (i.e. vsync forced on) but it unfortunately made no difference.
Is this indeed a symptom of missing vsync? Does anyone have some suggestions on what else I can try?
System:
Windows XP SP2
Intel E6850 Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM
NVidia 6600 GTX (792 MB VRAM)
169.21 WHQL driver (NVidia original)
X-Plane 9 beta 13
AA: 4x
Textures: extreme res
1600x1200 (but problem also with 1024x768)
Forests: overgrown
Detail distance: high
Roads and objects: tons
Reflections: complete
Frame rates vary but I have not seen them drop below 25 except on max objects, max trees, max roads, max everything.
If I can supply more info let me know.
Happy New Year!
