Guy:
Looking forward to seeing this one. I attempted a Comet & Trident back in X-Plane versions 4 & 5 (?) but could not find a way to get the Comet's engine nacelles to look good. With your work (and Wilson's new Trident) we are looking good for the classic British airliners. Just need a similar, high quality, VC-10!

Thanks for everyone's encouragement!
As you've no doubt read on my web site, all credit goes to Austin Meyer for making the Comet possible. Like you, I struggled for ages trying this way and that way to make the nacelle shape work in the ACF – even resorting to manual entries using a hex-editor. It's amazing to think that certain kinds of aircraft were simply not possible, or at least not possible accurately, before version 8.
Version 9 is a whole new game again! The kind of Marconi radios in the Comet do not fit the stock radios in Plane Maker. They can be customised, of course, but the click-zones can't be changed. So, with version 8, I've had to accept that the Cockpit will have certain inaccuracies. I can get away with it in a Comet 4C, because many of them had modern radios retro-fitted in the 1970s, but as I move back in time and develop a Series 4 (BOAC), Series 2, Series 1 – modern equipment will look more and more out of place. Version 9 will enable these earlier aircraft to be even more accurate.
I agree about the VC10. A really good one would be a tremendous addition.

Brilliant! And to eventually [perhaps] get a VC10 to the same standard will be fantastic! Looking forward to the 4/B/C

I enclose the latest progress on metallic textures for the Comet wings. I wrote to Ben Supnik this morning about whether the new water effects in Version 9 herald polished metal on aircraft, and the answer is no. Nothing in the near future, anyway. For a full explanation, follow this link:

So I have pressed-on with a kind of "pewter sheen" (see below).
