F/a-35

I think Lightning II is more fitting for the F/A-35 than the F-22. The P-38 filled a role more similar to that of the F/A-35 nowadays than the F-22.
The F/A-35 is probably going to be better remembered by history, like the P-38.

Another gold-plated fighter now adapted to carry bombs.
Actually, it won the 'Joint Strike Fighter' contest. It was designed to carry
bombs from the outset. We should spend our gold on other things like global
warming?

F/A-35 is bling. Very complex, very expensive.
So complex and expensive are modern fighters that it takes them 15+ years to go from prototype to full-service entry?! Bah.

No, the F/A-35 A, B, and C versions will be produced for the US Air Force, Navy and Marines, as well as the UK Royal Navy and Air Force. It's gonna replace the A-10, F-16, early F/A-18 version, A-6 (which has already been retired), all Harrier versions (both US and British), and British Toranado fighters.
its also incorrect, it is lightning III....................
P38
EE Lightning
F35C
Technically it maybe the Lighting III, but according to Lockheed it's the Lighting II:
