Tailsitter With Gear? how
#1

I've decided I want to try and build the Focke-Wulf Triebflugel, and can't figure out how to make it so the fuselage sits on its tail. I remeber there was an option to set the plane on its tail while on the ground that also cganged the angle you see at, but I remeber that when you used this option the plane lost the ability to have landing gear. Is this feature still around, and is it possible to have landing gear at the same time?

does anyone know? yes, me.
do they fly? yes mine does.
do the blades droop? yes they do.
can you learn to be patient? I doubt it.
enjoy, it's very old, in x-plane terms
The answer, for the rest of the readers is, build the gear with a lon angle of -90 degrees.

The last time I built a tailsitter (in 7.60) the wheels had no friction whatsoever, so don't expect it to sit still

yes and the wheels look like they have sunk in the ground. blame Austin.

thats because your having the gear sit on thier side, rotate everything else besides the gear and it should work properly

But that takes all the fun out of it

but then you look down at the ground when you are flying, d'oh!
It is only reciently than a range of views are available, and you still cant look straight up, which is what you need.
AND THE SIM IS SOOOOO POOR that rotated objects like the fuselage are NOT rotated in the flight model.
This aircraft poses a number of interesting problems and it can be done, but it has taken a long time for Austin to model things correctly before it flew without cheats.
A couple of other items are Lerche II and Convair 49 (built both), and there are some others in the US and French design books which are tailsitters.
