Yeah I've found this annoying, too easy to see traffic, not like real life!

I sent an email to Austin: (unrelated to this)
I have a few requests for new instruments, and features,
I have attatched a picture of an Learjet 45 cockpit which shows a
few
of them.
1) The type of radio stack it has. To my knowledge, this is nearly
impossible to do currently.
2) Vertical Talinum (in between the two radio stacks)
Other Instruments
1) Knob that switches between the United States barometric
pressure,
and the one used in europe and asia.
Features
1) Is more accurate landing gear hard to add to v8? The current
ones just stick the leg in the actual gear. Is there anyway to get
around this?
2) Attatching landing lights and taxi lights to the landing gear so
that they go up with the landing gear instead of floating lights.
3) An option to chose how many lights of each type you want. Some
planes have more than 2 landing lights and beacons, etc.
4) In planemaker, definitions of all the redline values in the
engine #3 screen.
5) Spinning Jet Fans
6) An easier way to make the taxiways the correct round shape as
they
enter and leave the rwy without using to many objects?
7) Way for the landing lights to change the light on the fuselage
at night instead of having to draw it on the paint?
8) Control Surface droop when nothing is powered?
Those were my suggestions, now some from others.
1) "I was thnking, that when you have 1 engine per multiple thrust
points, and that engine is a jet/rocket one on your options could
be a
nozzle, like on the AV-8. So you would not have to have 4 engines,
but
1 engine and 4 thrust points, like in real life.
2) "Well this may be a strech, but, like on he landing gear screen
perhaps have a drop down box saying "this gear is controlled by
handle"(<- as in the landing gear handle) Then give options of how
many handles are on the panel, this would be good for bay door, On
the
landing gear screen, have a drop down box saying which lever this
particular gear is controlled by, so you can have bay doors.
3) "Flares and charts for fighters, and switches to control them?"
4) Actual visible thrust reversers
5) Actual build up of ice on the airframe

we are workiong on some of this now
So Then i said: If not too much time... can you tell me which? so i can tell my

Then he said:
curved taxiways at least
and maybe vis thrust reversers
is 2 / 24 good?

2/24 is not bad, especially since some of your requests were very aircraft-specific.
He probably gets 50 mails like that every week so we should give him a break I think.

Which will add drag & change the performance...
I can honestly say I don't care about spinning fans in the slightest, I don't spend a lot of time looking into intakes from the outside while flying

The jet fans i wanted would have been a seperate option in the engines screen that really didn't have any drag....

I'd say that's excellent. As mentioned, Austin gets a huge volume of mail and I get the impression that he rather skims through long messages. Any time I have sent in multiple requests, he tends to acknowledge only the first or last one listed. I think you did well to get 2 out of 24 fairly disparate items.
These days, I tend to keep it to one idea per email and keep it concise.
Interesting that he mentioned the curved taxiways specifically - this is dealt with under the proposed new apt.dat format which has been on the cards for some time now. Maybe we'll see it soon.

Better than seeing them from the inside, I suppose!

Flares and chaff would have fallen under XP Combat, which he dropped. However, I like the idea of having customizable radio stacks, say you can have it in pieces or something, display, tuning knobs, etc.... thinking aloud or something again...

Funny. Brett and I were discussing custom radio stacks just the other day, as there's no way to get the radios right for the Uh-1 panel i'm doing.
Should be easy enough to do you'd think. It works that way with the autopilot already. All that is needed is some simple default graphics and some code I guess.
