Basically, I'm re-using my Etrich II "Taube" .acf, tweaking it to fit characteristics of the A.II (Series 72) type. The .acf represents the flight model only, the
visual model will be completely done in AC3D, exported to OBJ8 format, and the animations programmed in the OBJ file.
The Flugzeugwerk ("aircraft factory") in Fischamend, Lower Austria, was the military aircraft manufacturing and testing facility of Austria-Hungary.
In 1912, they began to build Etrich "Taube"-type aircraft without permission from the patent-holder, Igo Etrich.
The A.II(Fd) Series 72 was built for ground and air training of the newly-found Luftfahrtruppen (Aerial troops), equipped with an Austro-Daimler 65hp four-cylinder inline engine.
My goal is to reproduce this aircraft for X-Plane as closely as possible, adding enough detail (with an option to show modern equipment - transponder, com radio, GPS) to make flying this Taube real fun. Expect this to be slower than my 120hp Renntaube.
A python script plugin will give the user the possibility to show/hide modern or additional instruments. Motor management like switching between early and late ignition will be included, if I find out how to solve this.
Here's what I came up with in the first 10 hours of work:
