The SAAB 21R was a jet powered derivative of the propeller powered SAAB 21. It proved to not be suitable as a fighter, but better at ground attack, like it's propeller powered predecessor.
60 were ordered in 1947, which was the year the first prototype (a conversion) flew.
Deliveries started in 1950, most were retired by 1954, some continued in use as jet familiarisation aircraft until 1956.
Range is not very good at low altitude and at heavy weights.
This aircraft has one 20 mm and four 12.7 mm guns and is armed with 10 x 100 mm anti-armour rockets (700 kg together). Rockets were typical for the A 21R for most missions.
Empty weight 3090 kg, MTOW 5615 kg. Max speed 800 km/h (which is also near Vne), cruise 610 km/h. Max range 900 km.
Some prototype info and photos:

Flying the model:
Full nose up trim on take off. Armed and with full fuel it's heavy for its power. Engine spools up slowly.
Max speed 800 km/h / M0.72.
Instruments in km/h and meters. (Imperial units as an option in its own folder.)
N1 at around 50% when in the landing pattern. Cruise at 80-90%.
The autopilot and EFIS of course weren't there in the real aircraft, but they make online flying easier.

Update 2006 May 09: Adjusted the imperial units radar altimeter.
