Saab made a total of 323 of these between 1945 and 1966.
99 of those served with the Swedish air force until 1992. After it had been replaced as a trainer it was used as a general duty and liasion aircraft. Each wing had a few of them and this is one of them as it looked in the 1970s.
2D cockpit with all round view.
Simple radio nav instruments. Mostly semi-prototypical instrumentation.
Units is km/h, meter and m/s.
Version with imperial units intead of km/h and m included in its own folder which can be moved as it's self contained. It also has a GPS.
This is a minimal upgrade of HÃ¥kan Langebro's for version 6, with his permission. Paint is all new as is internal and gear details, but geometry and aerodynamics is practically unchanged.
It flies very well with nice handling through its speed range. Aerobatic.
During beginning of take off roll you have to counter propeller effects a bit.
Don't pull throttle back to idle with flaps fully down until you're over the runway. Approach with flaps down one notch can be done in idle.
Edit 2006 Dec 05: Inserted the forgotten barometer setting in the metric version panel. Wing tips rounded. Yellow variant included in the same package.
